How better to end the Year, and our "Stories that make you go Awwww!"" than this
Dec. 31st, 2012 11:24 pmAnd no, I don't mean this, because that's a rather specialised and personal form of "Awwww!"
So instead I offer this, which "Yes", IS another BTAS story, and from the same issue as the Mr Freeze story.... but I make NO apologies for that. (It's also a three page story, which leaves me ONE page to tell the story, so bear with me)
It's also appropriate (for me) that it has as it's title an old Scottish folk song associated with this night of all nights.
"Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot"
It's 1:55 am on New Years Day, and when Commissioner Gordon walks into a certain cafe in Gotham the proprietor, Joe, nods and gently ushers the last few tipsy revellers into the street.
Joe wonders if Gordon's buddy will show up (given he's had a very busy night stopping the Joker from turning Gotham's New Year Party into a death zone), but Gordon is confident he will, in fact...

Gordon wishes Joe "Happy New Year" as he leaves and repeats it to his old friend, who is already a vanishing shadow in the night.
So may I, in turn, wish you all a Happy New Year, in whichever timezone you happen to be in! :)

Date: 2013-01-01 05:41 pm (UTC)I love the relationship between Batman and Jim. It's special, they both understand their devotion to Gotham, and something like this annual meeting fits them perfectly. :)
*giggles*
I had to add that I love the restaurant owner's expression in Panel 2! He's so proud to host Batman and the Commish! ;)
