I don't really see any, but I do hope that this means that at some point Hickman has planned an all-out slugfest between T'Challa and Namor. That should be really interesting. :D

They've fought before, back when Priest was on the title and everything made sense. It was a similar situation too, and pretty cool, as T'Challa, Namor, Doom and Magneto met to discuss politics.

I think Namor is past amusingly arrogant, and well into contemptible scumbag territory here.

He lays waste to the country and the first thing the smug pillock does is condescend to it's ruler, and about the highly dubious "success" of the sodding Illuminati? "In secret, we rule"... like hell you do, or if you do, you have a LOT to answer for.

And definitely not getting any "Foe yay" here, if that means what I think it does.

I definitely think it's there. The tenseness in the scene. Namor's smile. Namor's unbridled arrogance. T'Challa's attitude. T'Challa threatening him.

That being said, Namor not showing the least bit of remorse for his actions will make many a reader think he is a (insert expletive of your choice here).

This is the guy who's first interaction with the surface world involved him trying to drown New York. I think it's fair to say that he's always been a bit of a contemptible scumbag.

Namor can't act any other way here. He was possessed. He's not going to admit that weakness, that he was overwhelmed. He's not going to claim he wanted to do it because he really didn't. He can't apologize for actions that weren't fully his and he won't apologize for being weak enough to be possessed.

If Cyclops is being held responsible for what he did while possessed then Namor should be as well. Hell, Cyclops actually had more of the Phoenix Force in him when he went crazy, while Namor only had a fifth and up to that point had seemed comparatively in control.
I mean, I would prefer Namor wasn't actually responsible for attacking Wakanda, but it still really annoys me that he would be considered innocent when Cyclops isn't.
Hopefully Hickman will do something with this whole plotline.

Namor's not supposed to interact with anybody but T'challa, and T'challa is only going to kill him after his "needs" have been met. *juvenile giggle*

I think when one of the emotions comes from a perfectly legitimate "You attacked my country and have the blood of innocent people, MY subjects, on your hands", that sort of overcomes any ability to see sexy vibes that I might otherwise have.

People are willing to give him a break 'cause he killed a lot of Nazis back in World War Two... Admittedly he may have attempted to sink New York (reasoning that all surface dwellers are the same, and that he might as well tsunami NYC in retaliation for Nazis abducting and experimenting on his people) but he went on to do a lot of good work...

...when he wasn't being a supervillain.

Also he was a member of the Defenders and helped save the world a lot. It's not like the Nazi thing is the extent of his resume.

Namor is a head of State, unlike Scott and Emma. Unless the UN wants to go to war with Atlantis, he'd pretty much have to be treated with a certain amount of respect and wariness.

Well, the idea of this book is that almost no one wants to work with each other on this--they're here because they have no choice. Also, I think it's fair to say that since Cap has more history with Namor than with Scott or Emma, he would work better still with Namor than anyone else.

I'm so tired of this everyone-hates-everyone-but-we-stick-together-as-a-team. When did this rubbish become so popular? I just can't believe people who have so much hatred and contempt for each other would work together? When people have so much hatred for each other, they do their best to stay apart and seek the company of people they like.

I'm willing to overlook T'Challa's attitude towards Namor since he actually has a pretty good reason to want to kill him.

Namor is just...if there was another reason for me not to like him this would be it.

I don't think it's inconsistent with his characterization though. Since the 60s he's never been all that concerned with the wellbeing of the surface dweller masses that I can remember - he's tended to ally with super heroes in opposition to his enemies, not out of altruism.
