In Mystery Incorperated, the term the creative staff use for their deliberately Seventies-style fashion and tech is Cyberfunk. :)

Oooh, Cyberfunk, me likey. It calls to mind George Clinton and Bootsie Collins, the Starchild and his Bop Gun and Parliament Mothership.

Since cyberpunk is heavily influenced by the period in which it was most popular (the eighties and nineties) TECHNICALLY they could count as being Cyberpunk settings.

What with the Seventies and Eighties being a time of people fearing that Japanese companies would take over the world due to the economic boom they were undergoing (see Blade Runner for example), but the bubble burst in the nineties so it became less likely to happen.

These days when people are going for the Traditional Cyberpunk aethetic they tend to go with Chinese or Indian companies in the position Japanese ones were in, like in Looper for example.

Is Indy really dieselpunk? What isn't basic mechanics is usually more akin to magic than anything else, isn't it?

No, it's retro-classic pulp. It's not the real thing since well, it's not from the 30's.

It's still not diesel-punk, though, except in the broadest possible sense (which would also result in things like defining Dracula as steampunk).

No, Dracula takes place in a contemporary setting. Indiana Jones is a period piece.

But still not diesel-punk, since all of the technology that Indy uses is contemporary for the period the story is set in.

More or less, it do go into the highly fanciful with Doctor Loveless and the other mad scientists.

Honestly I've never heard the term Atompunk before. Certainly for the art style, I've only ever heard it called Retro Futurism, since it calls back to the first period where looking at the World of the Future (with obligatory echo) became a really huge thing in the mainstream.

But I guess these days if you see the name on TV Tropes, that makes it official.
