It is my opinion that Korra the show and Korra the character were both almost laughably bad and a huge, huge letdown for this rabid AtLA fan.

I liked Korra and all her myriad flaws. Yes, she was, in turns, arrogant, naive, ignorant, headstrong and petulant but that's what made her a good character. She actually learned from her mistakes and never lapsed into Wind!Jesus like Aang occasionally did. Though the supporting characters were more interesting, IMHO.

And the season one finale was an even bigger deus ex machina than the ATLA finale.

We will likely have to agree to disagree on this. I have had Korra discussions here before and they've left me wishing my eyes could shoot rage blood.

In short, I think the show's awfully written with protagonists who mostly lack redeeming qualities (Mako's the worst, Korra's not a lot better) and often hold the idiot ball for the sake of advancing the hackneyed story. (Lin is probably the biggest idiot ball victim.)

I've seen people hold up Korra as an example of a strong female character and my only rational response has been rueful laughter.
