And they've made the New 52 the punchline of a Valentine? Really DC, really?

At least where I grew up, Valentines like these would be frequently distributed by ~ten year olds to their classmates, so that doesn't seem a big issue to me.

Well, horrible pun valentines, I assume. I've never known adults to give out cards like this, and I know some pretty geeky and soppily romantic adults.

Would a ten year old even recognize half of these characters? Outside of the Super Friends (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Batman & Robin), they might recognize Green Lantern and Cyborg...might.

Ten year old me MIGHT recognize Swamp Thing and Jonah Hex. But then again wee lissa was introduced to comics via 90's era DC Vertigo and was not a normal ten year old.

Who the hell is the dude on the te amo te adora card? Also what the hell is Cyborgs card even saying?

I think that "te amo" guy is Vibe, who's apparently alive and well in the DCnU.

Though if they wanted a more current and more popular Latino hero, why not go with Jaime Reyes? Or for even more diversity, Bunker?

All things being equal, Jaime probably has more of a recognition factor. However, his title has been canceled, and Vibe's will be starting shortly, so I guess that's why we're getting Vibe instead.

Some cute ones "You're wonder-ful," "Tonight is for Just-us" some confusing ones (What's Angel doing in there?), and some that are a little frightening. Shazam looks awfully sinister in his, and the Swamp Thing one comes off as sort of passive-aggressive. Is it a Valentine or a break up letter?

I'm really loving the fact that there's a card in there that literally says 'The New 52: You've been rebooted as my valentine.'

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean, but my first thought was 'you've been replaced as my valentine.'

That can't be a good thing.

Google suggests that it IYQ means "I like you," although I'm unable to trace why that should be. I suppose if you read the letters out loud quickly it sounds something like Eye Why Cue or I wike you.

Hmm, I do like the cards for Green Arrow, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Nightwing (Grayson beauty, indeed!). Superman and Batman does make me laugh. Poor Catwoman...her pose looks painful!

I do think the 1970s cards were more fun.
