One Perfect Moment: Beast Boy

While I've commented several times, this is my first official post in the new journal. I apologize if the tags aren't correct. I tried.

I've always loved this piece from the 3rd issue of the Beast Boy mini-series. To me, it defines what DC was trying to do with Beast Boy at the time... show that he's not the little kid of the team anymore who doesn't need "big brother Nightwing" to bail him out.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, TPTB decided to regress Gar to his 80's personality and have totally screwed him over for the last 2 years or so.

BTW, more of my Beast Boy scans (and the original artwork, which I acquired from the inker Chris Ivy) are at www.garfieldlogan.com

That was a nice Gar moment, though it required Nightwing to act like a dick a lot more than he normally would. I mean, would Dick Grayson EVER refer to Changeling* as "Logan"

* In my head I have an automatic filter which refuses to refer to any non-Animated or post joining the NTT version of Garfield Logan as "Beast Boy", it was an asinine move to revert to the old name.

So does that mean Gar Logan was using the "Beast Boy" name in The Technis Imperative? I just reread it, but I don't remember.

Word and Motto.

I like that Dick seemed to even want to dress the part of too-cool-for-anything for this car ride.

I think my choice for Gar's perfect moment is when he pops out of Raven's soul-self in The Technis Imperative, having snuck along for the ride with the original Titans. And says, "Um...Surprise!"

It encapsulates so much of how he relates to the other Titans: an unavoidable, irksome, yet lovable little brother who's loyal to a fault.

I also like the moment in the third Teen Titans run (collected along with the pages above in Beast Boys and Girls) when he reinjects himself with the sakutia virus, declaring that he likes his life.
