Always have been a fan of Lady S, even before they confirmed that she was Cass Cain's mum. She's one of those odd people that, depending on their mood, can either be a horrific murderer or actually pretty heroic, and even assists the protagonists even when there is no immediate advantage for her doing so.

She's kind of like Deadshot in some respects, in that while Deadshot would probably be more at home in the Old West, Sandra would probably be perfectly happy living at some point in the past where she'd be hailed as a wandering hero like Conan rather than merely being an assassin.

As such, I've dediced to collect up some cool Lady Shiva moments for your y'all to look at. First up, Shiva vs. Killer Croc.

Next, Lady Shiva returns to Hub City after some time away, and approaches members of one of the biker gangs that have taken over the place for work.

Lady Shiva expressing amusement at Helena's attempt to fight her,

In a totally weird sort of way, for some reason I can see any attempt to mug (or worse) Mary Poppins go much the same way (except with more umbrella and less high kicks); The calm, polite response to the crude threats and then the equally calm sudden inflicting of painful injury.

On an "appropiately dressed" front - last panel. Shiva, top, trousers, jacket. Huntress - skin, skin, more skin, some PVC and thigh highs.

How on earth did that happen without Helena, who would be very cautious about funding, realising?

The "real" Hush was the Riddler, no? Elliott was just a pawn as much as anyones.

By the final chapter, 'Hush' is basically meant to be Elliot. Riddler explains that the name applies to Tommy specifically because 'Hush Little Baby' is about a child that can't be sated, and Tommy is basically that child. Riddler then plays out Jason as pretty much the last card he has left, which was before Winnick rejigged things so that Jason was actually in on the plot, despite the Joker's involvement. Clayface was just a pawn who they didn't even tell who Jason Todd was; That's why his moves are more like Nightwing's - they didn't actually have an adult!Jason to copy off.

And now, this is what Shiva looks like:

*sigh*

(I just can't get past that ponytail...)

As revealed in Red Hood & the Outlaws, the ponytail isn't her real hair. She looks more classic Shiva under the helmet/mask (short black hair, same age). But the characterization is still off.

Well, that's some improvement. It's still a remarkably ineffective/inefficient weapon for a martial artist to use...

Pretty much on the down time or training, she doesn't wear the helmet or mask. She still uses weapons as she killed five Man-Bats with ninja stars. I think Cheshire or Bronze Tiger were kind of ticked she was killing the weakest members.

It's still an easy handle to grab onto, even with the spikes.

Strange that her only other appearances, in Nightwing, stressed that she and Dick were roughly the same age, eg early 20's at most, though there was a hint that there is more that one Shiva, or that she is not the first, at least.

Honestly, I'm going with what you're saying. Somewhere out there is a somewhat older Shiva somewhere in Asia trucking a cart that carries a little girl whose hair has pointy bat ears.

Have to say I don't find it any more distracing as an inefficient design element than Batman's cape.

Yeah, it's her signature killing weapon apparently, sort of highlighting how lethal she can be even with something that weird hanging off the back of her head... of course it's it only attached via a wig that's even MORE weird.

The Killer Croc scene is the adult equivalent of "Why you hitting yourself? Stop hitting yourself!" Glorious.

Shiva is a terrible person... who's still pretty awesome.

In an Green Arrow/Batman/Question storyline (shown in their annuals for that year) Lady Shiva and the O-Sensei are attacked by a boat crew after they dock. They attack, she slaughters all but one, who had managed to cut her. She looks at the blood, appears mildly shocked, then breaks the guys arm, then kisses him on the forehead. What sold me on the scene and the character is when she runs back to the O-Sensei and says, "Master, Master, one of them actually cut me! HIM I let live of course."

And the O-Sensei smiled.
