Boy Blue goes on to explain that Bigby, as the seventh son of the old North Wind and the father of the new North Wind, is capable of returning to life. It'll be very difficult, though.

Great Issue. The dialogue between Blue and Bigby was good. Feel a little sorry for Rose Red that Blue doesn't want to return to the living, but it fits his personality and wish for peace. At least we find out that there is a way for Bigby to return.
Then Willingham threw his sucker punch. Believe it or not, but I totally did not see the arrival of Dare coming. Didn't think this issue could become more touching.

I don't feel too sorry for Rose Red, I think Blue was right and she really didn't care for him in the way he wanted/deserved to be. Before Willingham decided to make her basically the Fable Messiah (as if Flycatcher didn't have that role), she was a very complex and not entirely likeable character who wanted things she couldn't have and didn't want the things that were right there before her.

Yeah, it's true that Rose was mercurical in this regard. That is why her character-story is about redemption. However, she does try to be better now, and was chosen by Hope for this reason to be her paladin. As for Flycatcher, I believe he fulfilled his role as a Messiah, since he defeated Gepetto's army of wooden soldiers. Fate has let him off the hook (at least for now).

Seems like Willingham is wrapping up loose ends now that he's closing the series, I'm 99.9% sure there was originally supposed to be more to the Boy Blue Cult than the hand-waving "Stinky is a fool" stuff Blue is dismissing here. The groundwork for that whole plotline (and the Farm Animals belief in it vs the Human Fables) for it to be a red herring.

The whole idea of Bigby as a god though it off-putting. Remember when the series started he was only a sorta semi-repentant mass murderer (another plot line that was basically dropped).

Months after the fact but I was looking up to see if something was included with this scan... it isn't but that was the fact that Bigby was supposed to be on the side of evil, Blue speculates, and his relationship with Snow derailed that... and he might be an agent of evil again.
