So the fist-bump was popularized by the Obamas, yes...but it's only us Britishers who can master the limp-wrist action!

The limp-wrist action was the first thing I noticed about Pete's attempt to bow down and emulate the consummate fierceness of our President and First Lady's more-horizontally-righteous fist bumpitude. :-)

Weak, Britain. Weak.

Bowing down is the key! Their wrists BOW like KNIGHTS.

Noble, Britain. Noble.

:p!

So the fist-bump was popularized by the Obamas

. . .

This has been going on for at least 12 years, people!

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; next, people will be claiming he's the first black president!

I'd been doing it for ages before Time let me know that it meant I was a terrorist. I've been happy in my new vocation ever since.

Loving the camp fist-bump. Carry On Captain Britain, anyone? Sid James as the Captain, Kenny Williams as Wisdom, Barbara Windsor as Spitfire.

Oh God, I can see that playing in my head. MAKE IT STOP

With Charles Hawtry as Captain Midlands, Bernard Bresslaw as the Black Knight, and Caroline Munro as Faiza (Well, if she can play "Arabic" in "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad"....)

ARGHH!!!

Caroline Munro as Faiza is genius. So, I think we need a new thread: Carry on (Insert name of comic-book here), starring...
For example: Carry On Fantastic Four, starring
Sid James as The Thing;
Kenny Williams as Reed Richards;
Barbara Windsor as The Invisible Girl;
Charles Hawtry as Moleman;
Jim Dale as The Human Torch;
Frankie Howerd as Dr. Doom.
Try un-seeing that.

Carry On Batman, starring
Sid James as The Joker;
Kenny Williams as Alfred;
Barbara Windsor as Harley;
Jim Dale as Nightwing;
Hattie Jacques as Oracle;
and, for the win....
Fenella Fielding as Catwoman.

For "Jim Dale as Nightwing" alone, you KNOW you're going to hell, right? :)

Hattie as Oracle works, I had images of her as Catwoman though.

Cool scene, but this comic just came out last week, didn't it? The limit on new comics is four pages and that's already been filled in a previous post.

No, it's four pages per poster; a total of seven can be posted.

Whilst I'm enjoying this CB title, is anyone else somtimes missing the slightly acerbic, scruffy Wisdom who didn't really seem to like people very much?

Immensely. I quite dislike Cornell's version of the character.

From: [identity profile] icon_uk.insanejournal.com
I think the character Cornell created works, but I don't think of him as the Pete Widsom from Excalibur.... possibly his slightly more responsible, sharper dressed cousin! :)

I didn't recognize him at all.

From: [identity profile] okkult3000.insanejournal.com
That version of Wisdom was just another Warren Ellis self-insertion. Other writers, not being privy to Ellis's thoughts and feelings, had to actually write a character around Wisdom.

Date: 2009-06-20 02:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] icon_uk.insanejournal.com
Except, as Ellis is the one who created Wisdom, surely it would have been better to just create a NEW character rather than, essentially, bastardise an existing one with such a definite personality (author insertion or not)?

From: [identity profile] okkult3000.insanejournal.com
We differ here, as I have absolutely no respect for author inserts. I'd rather see them bastardized. Or, as in Suicide Squad, killed.
