Dang reading that preview to Amazing #600 has left a bad taste in my mouth. So I decided to delay scanning Tales of TMNT for this, an Ock moment from Spider-Man vol. 1 #18 washing away that yucky taste.

Oh Otto you're such a magnificient bastard!

Just shows you he doesn't have to be _____ (see Spidey #600 preview) to make him a global (ie Dr. Doom or Ultron) level threat. All the good Doctor really needs is to be back in a business suit and a large arsenal at his disposal.

Mmm. The Spidey 600 preview left a really bad taste in my mouth because it just reeked of ripping off Joker's Last Laugh.

Also, I'm not usually a huge fan of Larsen, but the absolutely mental depiction of the Octopus Arms is brilliant, here.

Not sure I warm to the "I have millions of miles of tentacle" style here, I like that Octopus has rather obvious limits. I mean he can pick up mutiple guns sure, but his arms can only actually fire four at a time.

Admittedly, JLL was overall a piece of garbage. And it's just taking the idea of a dying villain wanting to go out with a bang, so it's not like the story idea can't be used again. It'd be like complaining when *insert supporting character* gets kidnapped, killed or tortured. Or when two superheroes meet for the first time, they have to inevitably fight. :p

While I agree to an extent, I gotta say, there are times when Larsen would draw Ock's arms that... if you saw him in person, the reaction would be rather pants-shitting, let's put it that way.

SECONDING this.

But mainly if it means we can get more Erik Larsen Otto. His is the reason why I was *obsessed* with Ock at age eleven, and why he's still one of my favorite characters even if the majority of his appearances have been little more than jokes.

Otto is *supposed* to be one of Spider-Man's greatest foes, on par or superior to Norman and Venom, and Larsen was one of the few people who really made you believe it.

Is this from REVENGE OF THE SINISTER SIX? I dearly want to read that, but the trade is out of print. Doesn't Otto hold his own against Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Wolverine in this story?

Yeah this is from Revenge of the Sinister Six. However, it wasn't Wolverine he held his own against. It was the Fantastic Four, Hulk, Spidey, Ghost Rider, and Deathlok before finally being brought down by Sandman.

JLL did have its flaws, but it did have everyone realizing that even if the Joker found out he *wasn't* dying, it wouldn't stop his rampage. It also had my favorite Joker line that I enjoy posting:

"Aw, geez. I hit Jason a lot harder than that. His name was Jason, right?"

Oh yes...Dr. Ock and his powered-up adamantium arms. In the very next issue, Ock used those arms to pummel the crap out of the Hulk and make him look like a chump...which caught the ire of Mr. He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, who was writing the Hulk at the time. Larson has been beefing with him ever since.
