And the list of characters Beechen should not be allowed to write grows ever longer.

[identity profile] parsimonia.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 13:09 (UTC)(link)
That's why I said!

[identity profile] parsimonia.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 13:09 (UTC)(link)
Or rather, that's WHAT I said. =P

[identity profile] runespoor7.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 20:08 (UTC)(link)
"Totally".

[identity profile] zegim.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 08:42 (UTC)(link)
A team up of Blue Beetle and Hardware shouldn't be this lackluster :(

But hey! Did I mention Blue Beetle and Hardware in the same sentence :D?

[identity profile] ulf_boehnke.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 10:07 (UTC)(link)
You know, this Hardware character really needs someone to give his armor a paint job. It's a total mess.

[identity profile] jlbarnett.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 11:34 (UTC)(link)
I swear I've seen that color scheme before. Maybe on a genric transformer.

(Anonymous) 2009-07-17 11:54 (UTC)(link)
Hardware never used to be all those colors in his own title so why now ?

[identity profile] icon_uk.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 14:39 (UTC)(link)
Well, I'd say, yes he pretty much did. Check out the covers here (http://www.comics.org/covers.lasso?SeriesID=4923)

He's got a bit more red here, but it's not THAT different.

[identity profile] bariman1987.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 03:49 (UTC)(link)
At least this design doesn't have batteries taped on and exposed wiring and circuitry.

[identity profile] scottyquick.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 12:39 (UTC)(link)
... Jaime doesn't speak like that. Paco might, but seriously? "Totally a hormone thing"? Picking Batman over Superman?

[identity profile] 404glitch.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 13:12 (UTC)(link)
It was his first big team-up and he saved the universe; I'd be willing to give him a pass on that one.

Also, Beechen.

[identity profile] icon_uk.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 14:36 (UTC)(link)
Actually, given his interactions with Batman, and the pride he has that BATMAN thinks he's doing a good job, I'd say that picking Batman over Superman is a natural. Superman is cool, but he's nice to everyone. Batman is scary, and if he's nice to you, you've really arrived.

[identity profile] brandiweed.livejournal.com (from insanejournal.com) 2009-07-17 15:23 (UTC)(link)
It could also be a little tip o' the pen to his cartoon incarnation, who's a flat-out Batman fanboy.

True! Being liked by Superman is no big deal. I mean, he likes Lois of all people, loves her even, and she has hardly ever done anything nice for him.

Batman is scary, and if he's nice to you, you've really arrived you are probably a pretty teenager of the appropriate age.

There, fixed that for you.

[identity profile] scottyquick.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 18:32 (UTC)(link)
I mean, he likes Lois of all people

... wut?

[identity profile] jlbarnett.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 00:36 (UTC)(link)
she can be kind of grating. And a bit overly intense

[identity profile] bariman1987.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 22:45 (UTC)(link)

Well, he did marry her. Her post-Crisis takes-no-shit-from-anyone attitude was one of the things that attracted him to her.

you are probably a pretty teenager of the appropriate age.

I keep saying, Batman's measuring Jaime up for a Robin costume. He's probably got one made up already.

[identity profile] porringer.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 00:04 (UTC)(link)
Imagine Jaime in the Batcave, working on a case with Batman, coming across the costume.

"Oh hey, a Robin costume!"
*Tries it on for shits and giggles*
"That's weird, it fits perfectly. Now I think about it, who was it made for? It doesn't look like..."
*taking it off, notices nametag 'Jaime'*
"Ummmmm."
*Batman walks in*

Awkward!

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 13:54 (UTC)(link)
Her post-Crisis takes-no-shit-from-anyone attitude was one of the things that attracted him to her.

Oh well, I like post-Crisis Lois, from what little Super books I've read there... It's more that the "default" Lois in my head is the harridan from the silver age. (Though, admittedly, everyone was a jerk back then.) And either incarnation is not someone I would personally get involved with. And my "default" Superman is modern, so... Clark really is too nice for his own good sometimes.

I keep saying, Batman's measuring Jaime up for a Robin costume.

I don't want to know what the scarab's reaction to that would be! (On the other hand, he could put the Robin suit over the Blue Beetle one... that'd be awesome.)

He's probably got one made up already.

J: "Wow! For me?" *puts on* "Wait! Tim's has tights..."
B: "Well, this is the uh... retro model. Also, Tim threatened to sue me for harassment."

[identity profile] scottyquick.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 18:57 (UTC)(link)
Oh, good point! I don't have that trade yet, so I've only seen bits and pieces on SD of him with Bruce.

[identity profile] fleur_de_liz.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 14:52 (UTC)(link)
Man, it's such a minor nitpick, but...nobody outside of elementary school has "social studies." Jaime is somewhere in the ballpark of high school junior. He's probably taking U.S. history, possibly AP U.S. history. Not social studies.

I totally forgot this book came out this week, and I'm kind of glad I did. Jaime deserves better dialogue than this.

[identity profile] xammax.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 15:46 (UTC)(link)
That depends, this Blue Beetle is worried about his grades. The real Blue Beetle is worried how he will be killed if his grades slip. The man has a cane. I believe he lets people think he needs it so it is always at his side.

[identity profile] spiritoftherain.livejournal.com (from insanejournal.com) 2009-07-17 22:31 (UTC)(link)
Nobody outside of elementary school has "social studies."

Unless you're taking high school courses in Canada. We have them up to at least grade 11. >_> (Our highest high school grade is 12.)

[identity profile] jlbarnett.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 00:38 (UTC)(link)
It could kind of be okay. If I remember right when I was picking out classes that's what they listed all those various classes under.

(Anonymous) 2009-07-18 02:27 (UTC)(link)
Unless he has had more than one class with that teacher. I took 4 different social studies classes with the same teacher, so I would have definitely called him a "social studies" teacher. Same way I took 3 different math courses with the same teacher as well, so he was my "math teacher"

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 15:33 (UTC)(link)
Yes, do give the Titans love, Jaime. And bring pictures.

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 15:33 (UTC)(link)
"bring BACK", that is. *facepalm*

[identity profile] jasper_stars.insanejournal.com 2009-07-17 15:42 (UTC)(link)
And to think - I almost bought this. Good thing I couldn't find it in the shop. I don't think I need to restate the fact that this is soooooo not my adorkable Jaime.

[identity profile] psychop_rex.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 03:51 (UTC)(link)
Is Hardware in or out of character here? Jaime is... well, kinda half in and half out, but I don't really know Hardware's character that well. Is he always this much of a jerk?

[identity profile] pyrotwilight.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 04:32 (UTC)(link)
Well he was this jackassy in the JLA Milestone story so I assume he is.

[identity profile] psychop_rex.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 06:33 (UTC)(link)
Ah. Perhaps Jaime's just feeling annoyed at him and is overcompensating, then.

[identity profile] majingojira.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 13:06 (UTC)(link)
Maybe I should start a list of "Characters I like that should not be written by Adam Beechen."

[identity profile] shadowvalkyrie.insanejournal.com 2009-07-18 13:41 (UTC)(link)
Make a list of characters that should be. MUCH shorter.

[identity profile] buttler.insanejournal.com 2009-07-21 04:17 (UTC)(link)
OK, B&B: now do Preacher & Hoppy the Marvel Bunny!
