I wish I had more time to make a post which best illustrates just why Mega Man is a great comic book to get into, and hopefully this post will at least serve as an impetus for that. If nothing else, I included what tags I could to make looking for previous posts easier.

But the main thing is to spread word that ComiXology is having a line-wide sale on Archie comics, of which Mega Man is one, and between the 50% discount and the already-low price of $1.99 USD per issue, you can basically get the entire run for $55. Less, if you decide to trim the Sonic crossover stuff out (incidentally, the Sonic stuff is on sale, too, and worth reading).

The trades have stalled following the hiatus, leaving that option for reading the series in doubt, so that makes this the best way to get caught up. And hey, maybe buying these will show enough support that Archie decides to take the book off "hiatus."

You can find further details here.

Do note that the single issues are the better value over the trades which are available, unless you really like variant covers (which can be found online anyway) and bonus content.

Mega Man is indeed a really good comic!

Though I think there's speculation that the hiatus has to do with the rights' holders and not just sales. They looked poised to launch a Mega Man X spinoff not long before the comic stopped.

There's rumors that Sega is either getting out of comics or moving the license over to another publisher, possibly IDW. Despite the actual quality of the Sonic comics rising ever since Flynn took over, Archie has been a rather crappy steward for their licensed material, and I imagine Sega wasn't happy about the Penders nonsense that caused the soft reboot due to Archie's mismanagement of their legal documents, and I imagine Archie's financial issues and focus on their titular property (especially the advertising blitz for Riverdale) over everything else lately doesn't help matters either.

I do hope both Sonic and Mega Man's comics find a new home at IDW, the crossover potential is incredible, IDW is a great publisher, and they've already got Ian Flynn writing for them. That being said, I also hope a publisher switch also involves not needing to reboot said comics as long as Flynn is involved, though Sega's worrying recent trends towards attempting to homogenise everything Sonic lately might be a big issue.

Mega Man is a Capcom, property, though. Not Sega.

So it might be something unrelated.

Mega Man was a top book and was the first Archie book that ever compelled me.

I wish they would just say that it was cancelled.
