cyberghostface: (Spider-Man)

'Tangled Web' was a short-lived anthology series featuring Spider-Man. Or rather, people who were affected by him one way or another. This is one of the stronger ones in my opinion.

The story started in #7.

The doctor tells Charlie he will get headaches and eventually go blind.

He's looking at half a million.

Spider-Man arrives and webs up the crooks.

At one point Charlie rings up some hoodlums but hangs up before he says anything.

#8...

The next morning, Charlie walks into a local jewelry store and asks to see the manager, trying to find work as a security guard. The manager asks for his credentials, and Charlie throws a diamond necklace on the desk that he lifted from under the current guard's nose. The manager is outraged, but is quickly overruled by his superior. "Can you start Monday, Mr. Clemmens?"

Charlie meets up with the crooks he tried calling before.

Charlie makes them a proposal. With them he'll rob the jewelry store he works at, and he asks for half of the loot. In exchange for that, he will give them something even more valuable.

#9...

Charlie Clemmens has offered three criminals--with whom he has tangled before--the opportunity to learn Spider-Man's secret identity. Obviously, they are skeptical, and the unofficial leader of the pack--"Seeds"--demands proof. So Charlie offers to produce a demonstration.

Seeds' girlfriend Lorraine is unlucky enough to walk into the room at this point, and is coerced into robbing a pharmacy to see if Charlie can produce the web-swinger. The four men sit in Charlie's cab and watch Lorraine enter the pharmacy. Charlie calls the Daily Bugle on Seeds' cell phone. Shortly thereafter, Spider-Man shows up and apprehends the now-freaked Lorraine. That's enough to satisfy Seeds' crew, and they (reluctantly) pick Friday to rob Charlie's jewelry store. Charlie goes home alone to find a message scrawled on his wall: "We need to talk."

The robbery goes without a hitch.

So how'd he end up knowing Spidey's secret?

And where did they get the money at the end? Wouldn't Spider-Man have returned the stolen goods?

I'm confused. The son had cancer too? Charlie is dying or he had the operation too?

And why Charlie calls first the child "Jimmy" and then "Benny"?
