Time to get your dance on!

The first chapter is available to read in its entirety for free on Kodansha's website, but here's a look at most of it here if you can't look at their reader.

Our story begins after school somewhere...

They try and beat him up a bit when someone shows up on a motorcycle to stop them.

Surprise surprise! He took him to Ogasawara Dance Studio, where he works!

From there, Sengoku gives Fujita some pointers on how to improve his posture, saying "a single look at how you stand can change the way people say you! A man should stand confidently! don't let anyone mess with you! You awe them."

The kid at least gives it a shot, trying a group lesson with a bunch of other people there, when a familiar face walks in...

Tamaki asks if he wants to sign up for future lessons, but Fujita declines and leaves. When he gets home, he finds out she snuck a DVD into his school bag (along with a list of prices for lessons, which he can't afford at all, even with a school discount). He doesn't plan on taking a course, but he decides to humor her and watch the DVD that night, which features a familiar face

After those cameos from characters in Footloose, Fujita heads home... only to run into trouble.

Fujita decides not to tell them, which in return, they beat the crap out of him in alley. He continues to refuse to tell them anything until someone shows up and scares them away with a flashlight...

And that's the first chapter. The anime is set to hit this summer so if you what you see, check out the manga or the anime!

Why can't school be exciting like this?

I like it.
After having been out of Anime and Manga for a long long time (I still have a bunch of old AnimaniA magazines [the first Anime/Manga magazine in Germany] sitting around some place ...) and had a hard time when I tried to get back into it for a few years the appearance of One Punch Man last year in Anime form had me check out Anime and now Manga once more.

My biggest problem with manga and also anime is that it often feels like a never ending story with no proper sendoff. I think I could get into Welcome to the Ballroom, but seeing that there is no end in sight and might not be in the near future, leaves a weird taste in my mouth.

Jojo on the other hand feels different. It has its plot arcs that are connected but can be consumed in their own. I wouldn't be sad about never picking up another arc of Jojo after finishing Diamond Is Unbreakable, since so far it doesn't feel like I have to watch every other arc after that (or before).

So, lots of rambling just to say that I like what I see here and will see where it goes. The first volume is on my shortlist of things to buy next time on amazon :D
Thank you for sharing this one!

I liked Straighten Up! better, I think. Oh, and I reviewed a shoujo manga with this theme a bit back... http://www.skjam.com/2015/12/11/manga-review-lets-dance-a-waltz/

Oh man, love this series. The art of the dancing sequences is freakin fantastic. And the dynamic between the two dancers adds something to the classic shonen formula. Watching Chi and Tatara butt heads later in the series is pretty neat.

Just hope the animation from the anime adaptation matches how gorgeous the manga-art is.

So this is that famous ballroom manga that my friends were talking about. Seems like it's going to get an anime too.

Looks good so far :)
