New Frontier: Diana and Clark have an arguement

I have to say that I really do like Wonder Woman's portrayal in this mini series, from her belief in America as an ideal (an ideal that becomes kind of embarassing to the US government when she points out their foreign policy contradicts it, and ultimately results in her being unofficially thrown out of the country), to her being taller than Superman and her costume.

I do like the costume, it both seems to be practical and somewhat "Ancient Greekish" if you get what I mean. Though I do wonder where she got the blue leather for her skirt...

This is the kind of thing I was referring to when I said that writers have a habit of making Superman look weak willed and ineffectual in order to bolster up other characters. He couldn't have thought of a decent response to Wondy? Really?

He does grow out of it by the end of the story though, saying that the superheroes etc. of the world have to throw off their political agendas and focus more on the greater good.

Though it took Diana getting seriously injured for him to stop being Eisenhower's lackey and actually do something...

I appreciate the situation, Diana, but have you thought the logistics of this problem through? Think about that while you're getting drunk, I'm going to go build a boat so we can tow these women to Themyscria before the shelling starts."

The writing's great, but I love the way the art portrays Diana, like you said. She's taller, more Amazonian, more powerful, and bigger then the normal stickish-until-recently Diana.

It's hard to tell from just these pages (and I can't be bothered to go back to the TPB to check), but it looks to me like Diana is only taller than Superman because she's standing on the bench.

I wasn't a huge fan of The New Frontier, and I'm not a fan of this particular bit (though mostly for different reasons). I don't know... this whole scene just seems like a riff on Apocalypse Now and the Viet Nam flashbacks in Watchmen to me, and it suffers by comparison to either.

In war, the enemy can fight back (yes, each side is going to use subterfuge, surprise, and psychological warfare to weaken the other, but each side is doing this). This is a case of one side bullying another until a stronger force comes by and swings the see-saw the other way, and then the second side destroys the first.

I saw 'Justice League: New Frontier' one late night on Cinemax, and I'll have to say, this scene is the one that stood out the most, and made me realize that Wonder Woman can be awesome. Even if what she did has so many moral and legal implications in the long term, the simple fact is that she saved this women from something horrendous.

I am very proud of the film crew, screen adaptor and producers for not shirking from this scene or "dumbing it down." War is that bad, whether the enemies come from outer space or from the same planet you do.

I like this Diana-as-Jenny-Sparks-sort-of (all she needs is a cigarette dangling from her lower lip). "Did they forget to mention rape camps in your high school history classes, Smallville?" I'ma get this.

There's a bit of cognitive dissonance, which I suspect might be intentional, between the art style and the ugliness of the events being portrayed here.

I love Darwyn Cooke, but I keep thinking, "Rape camps should not be this cute." :(

Put me in the "she didn't do anything wrong, but she didn't do everything right" column. Killing the soldiers, that's fine, that's war. Hanging around to party and train a handful of people, some elderly, probably most malnourished, is stupid. She's setting them up to die, and I'd wager her only reply to that would be, "They died as my sisters!" which is great for her, since she's still alive to celebrate their glorious deaths. I'm not sure how they'd feel about it.

If she can lift a plane, a fairly big plane, then why isn't she carrying them the heck out of there? Dragging them on a raft? Anything but getting drunk? If I fault Diana with anything here, it's not using the Wisdom of Athena tho think her plan through.

Saying "there are no rules here" as a justification for anything you did is incredibly nasty and cowardly. The implications are: "sure, I do wrong things - everytone does!" Is that supposed to be an excuse for not making and enforcing rules? Isn't that what that war was supposed to be about? And calling that the American way -- aklsdjsdkn, please, no more straw. (anti-straw?)

Writer, that pseudo logic is despicable in the real world, and here it just looks like using a character as a mouthpiece.

For the record, I'm jut condemning the speech, not Diana's actions.
