Steve Rogers: Captain America #15. Some were surprised that Spencer would reveal what the whole deal is behind Hydra Cap so early, back in issue 2, where we got the explanation of what the Cosmic Cube did. With each issue though, it becomes more clear there was no "whole" about that. This storyline's an onion. We keep peeling to find more layers underneath, and it just goes deeper and deeper and it's endlessly fascinating. It pulls the neat trick of hiding secrets without the reader even realizing there's anything to hide, yet hinting at them just enough so that they don't seem like an ass-pull when they appear.

Uber: Invasion #5. This series pulls off the most maddening cliffhangers. The fact that we genuinely never know if anything will turn out all right -- for anyone -- plus the obvious adjacency to real world horrors contribute a lot to that.

The Flintstones #10. Who knew I could get so invested in the fate of a prehistoric animal that's also an appliance? Credit to both Mark Russell's writing *and* Steve Pugh's art, which infuses so much charming character into said appliance/animal.

Oh Spencer buddy, if you wanted to write a "What if series" just say so. Otherwise don't insult the readers by making this bullshit canon you dumb shit.

It's not a "what if" and reality has been altered multiple times in canon anyway, what's the issue?

You misunderstand, though he this isn't your first time. I said Spencer would be better off writing this as a "What If" than a IN CANON story. Especially when the next writer will just wave this off.

Did I make that clear enough for you?

Because it doesn't work as a what if, this is specifically about the main MU being altered. Which is not the first time the main universe has been altered, not even recently. The whole point is that Steve isn't as he should be, that he was changed. As a what if, it would not have any impact, because it would be just "Alternate Steve is evil".

And writers wave of stories that doesn't involve reality warping, so same difference. Ultimately, writers can't worry about that and they have to concentrate on the now.

And dial it down, we can have a discussion without being rude.

Oh yeah that's rich coming from the guy who replies to people that their opinion is wrong on a comic you like.

Besides this story could still work as a "What if" only this time it's permanent and it's own thing. Having this in the main universe is just going to be hand waved like Civil War 2 all over again wasting everyone's time and attention and damage Roger's character just for the sake of some publicity stunt attention B.S.

Not really. Besides, i'm not overly fond of this event anyway.

And not, as a "What If" the context is completely different and the situation doesn't have the same gravity. A "What If" isn't really "permanent" anyway and i doubt Spencer pitched the story with the thought of having Hydra Steve be permanent anyway.

And again, a writer can't worry what another writer will do in the future.

And it won't really damage Steve's character and will likely be overjoyed to be back to his old self by the end of this arc. Depending on how that happens he might have to regain people's trust, but that shows Steve's strength as a character.

Plus, since you don't like the story either, wouldn't you want the next writer to hand wave it?

I'm not a mod, but I think toxic comments aimed at the creators is generally frowned upon.

At least it used to be.

This. Insulting the writing is fine but personal insults aren't.

There is (was? I'm too lazy to check if it's changed) a rule against such things. But it doesn't seem to be enforced much.

Yes, there is, and it IS enforced when the Mod team see it ot it's reported to us. (bear in mind we're not necessarily in the same time zone, and do need to sleep every now and again.)

You know, i'm surprised Crossbones sided with Hydra Steve against the Red Skull. Sin i get, but Crossbones had always been ridiculously loyal towards the Red Skull.
