In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

Thursday is Star Wars Day (May the Fourth, and all that) any plans to celebrate? I've just discovered that Acker and Blacker are releasing a special Star wars book launch concert in aid of pro bono law firm Public Counsel on the day itself, so that should be fun.

In other, coincidental, battles against evil empires, POTUS Mk45 has announced that A) The job is harder than he expected and B) He'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for that meddling, archaic Constitution and it's system of checks and balances! Oh, and he also ended an interview because he was asked question about the wiretapping allegations that he had brought up in one of his more obscure rants.

Brexit continues to be a fun game for 27 players, and a crappy one for the other one, as acrimony and bitterness already the order of the day.

The UK General Election campaign continues to be a party that no one wants to attend and has featured some breathtakingly bad PR from pretty much everyone. My personal favourite being Theresa May going door to door in Scotland surrounded by press, and no one answering the door, apart from one couple of saved her the bother of trying by calling "No, thank you", as she walked past.

France heads to the Presidentila polls again for the final vote and, whilst it may look like Le Pen isn't getting in, the same might be have been said about other far-right-wing leaders of democratic societies the past couple of years, so please do exercise your constitutional right to vote.

In non-political news, a tweet about a Chinese lesbian couple getting married and become the world's richest married couple turned out to be a hoax (They were actually members of a Korean pop group), which is a shame, but it was fun whilst it went viral, and the degree of support it gained was refreshing.

Oh, and in terms of reminding us of our true size in relation to the universe, NASA's Cassini probe is nearing it's end, as the plucky little probe is darting in and out of Saturn's rings a total of 22 times as part of it's Grand Finale, before reaching the end of it's 20 year mission, and the images it's send back are breathtaking.

Last night our Toastmasters meeting had the theme of May Flowers, and I as Table Topics Master asked a series of floral-related questions.

Heading off to a LinkedIn event today at the Microsoft Store, and I am told I will be getting a new headshot done by a professional studio.

A couple of new reviews at my blog, including this one of a YA adventure book by a Twin Cities author: http://www.skjam.com/2017/04/25/book-review-doctor-dead-a-percy-quincey-adventure/

Last Friday, the Gorillaz dropped their newest album in over 7 years. Anyone give it a listen yet? It's not bad. Has a more dance/club music approach to it. Get the deluxe edition with all the extra songs. Really good.

Listened to it once so I don't feel like I've been able to take it all in.

I had no idea there was a second version. Now I feel cheated.

Mad Terry ought to be grateful she just got the cold shoulder. My grandad, may he rest in peace, used to have Tory doorsteppers do the driveway hurdles. He lived in a cottage up a farm track with a couple of gates on them, and he had two very large dogs. would give them a five second headstart then set his dogs on them (they never bit, but they were damn scary when they were hurtling towards you barking and howling, and just pinned them against the hedge until grandad rescued them) and the only way to beat the dogs to the end of the drive was not to open the gates but vault them. That was many, many, many years ago of course, and you'd never get away with it these days, get an assault charge and the dogs confiscated at very least, but once upon a time that was just part and parcel of the rough and tumble of politics.

He always said that it gave them a taste of what a fox must feel like with the pack behind them. He was not a fan of fox hunting was Grandad. Not a fan of Tories either, the worst of all vermin he used to say.

I think I'll wear a SW shirt on Thursday, maybe read something SW. I'm behind on my SW Insider mags.

I'm voting Macron on Sunday of course, and despite what the polls say, I'm terrified Le Pen will win.

Something to look forward to: Free Comic Book Day on Saturday. I'm putting together a Daisy Johnson cosplay, mixing her comics and TV looks a bit. My gauntlets are gonna be kinda bad, but it's my first time cosplaying, so baby steps and all that.

Samurai Jack keeps being very good.

I'll admit I was a little concerned when Ashi turned good, because traditionally, when a dark action girl joins the heroes, suddenly she becomes incompetent (this is common for villains in general, since villains are expected to be stronger than the heroes to properly threaten them, but can't upset the status quo too much when they join the side of the angels. But usually the male ones manage to mostly recover their badass credentials over time).

Then she goes and slaughters a whole army singlehandedly and takes out Aku's most psycho assassin. So proud :')

Starting off with Transformers news:
The Last Knight toys came out, and [vulgar euphemism] are they expensive.
Twenty two quid just for a regular sized figure, thirty for the larger ones.
Madness...

Also, the third season of RID actually began when Cartoon Network said it would begin, which almost certainly is more shocking than anything the show itself could produce.
Though Soundwave actually saying something might be a close contender.
And moreover, saying something that's not a [crass expletive] TFTM line.

Found RID's Blurr going cheap at a supermarket ("get 'em off our shelves a'ready!" cheap).
He is a lovely shade of teal. Just lovely.

Non-Transformers now...
Doctor Who was kinda... ehh. Not terrible, just slow.
Not as good as last week.
Appreciation of Nardole is still increasing.

Also, that news about Scotland up at top? Beautiful.
Just beautiful.

Though Soundwave actually saying something might be a close contender.

I really wish he hadn't :(((

I like classic!Soundwave. But I LOVE Prime!Soundwave. He managed the take the boring, dull and annoying "silent badass" schtick, and make it work! He was legitimately unnerving, threatening and mysterious, and when he turned that on its head he was hilarious.

That scene where Airachnid goes all "I vow that on this day, the world will hear the sound of your screams" and he just 'ports her and her entire army away without a peep and then walks away as if nothing happened. It was amazing, I couldn't stop laughing.

Or that scene where he is a prisoner of the autobots, and trolls them with remixes of recorded voice lines and emoticons. It was just SO good.

And the fact that he never spoke made the one time he did really impressive, especially as it was essentially a suicide note.

Making him speak normally really takes from his character, imo...

That said, I'm glad they took him out of the Shadowzone. It was quite distressing to think that one of my very favourite characters was stuck with a fate worse than death.

Had to start job hunting again . . . and absolutely no one seems interested. I assumed that people wouldn't exactly be falling over themselves to hire me, but after 30-some applications I still haven't gotten a single interview. This is my first time applying for a job in a larger city, so I don't know if this is par the course or if my portfolio is a lot weaker than I had originally thought :p

I am dreading the election. My conscience will not allow me to vote for the Conservatives - given their treatment of the poor, disabled and immigrants. But I truly despise Jeremy Corbyn and know he can't win.
But if I vote Conservative, I'm voting for a bunch of xenophobes and classists. If I vote third party, I'm helping split the vote and give more power to the Conservatives. So I have to swallow my pride and vote for a man I really, deeply dislike.

God knows how I'll explain that one to my family.

Tell them you are voting for "mind your own business". I do that often enough. Go on, ask me who I'm voting for?

Failing that; yeah if you don't like Corbyn and I'm not so keen myself, especially over Brexit where he'd Nick Clegg'd himself agreeing to support it in Parliament and thus robbed Labour of a USP at the polling booth (I knew that it would come back to haunt him, and the snap election has made it worse), then just tell them you are voting for the least worst option. Us Brits kept telling American voters to do that with Hillary/Trump and now it is our turn to put our money where our mouths are and vote for the unappealing candidate over the unspeakable one.

I believe she said that the Superman movies were, at heart, romance stories - and that is the reason that Smallville did better than the more recent movies, because they focused more on Clark's love life.

Frankly, I see nothing wrong with the opinion. But I'm a huge fan of hers, so I'm biased.

Picked up Waid's Flash Volume 2 recently. Haven't had the chance to read it yet, but as I flipped through it, I saw something that ticked me off:

The Return of Barry Allen story is split, with a Flash Annual (part of the Bloodlines event) in between. Why? Why would they do that? That annual isn't part of the story at all.
