Having missed June completely, I knoew find I'm a day late with this one

The aim of these (ahem) monthly posts is to give community members a chance to request postings; A story they might recall but not know the name of, or a specific arc, or even examples from a particular creator or genre.

We can't, of course, guarantee that any request will be filled, but given the combined geekitude of the community (and we mean that in the nicest possible sense) you might be surprised what can be unearthed.

So away you go!

I'd like to see examples of the friendship between Hawkman and the Atom. They had their own duo series, and some issues were team ups. And some stories have characters mention they are good friends. But Carter and Ray aren't Hal and Ollie.

HAWKMAN #46 had a post-IDENTITY CRISIS flashback scene, where Carter and Ray talk about everything that happened. It's good, but just shows that the two are good friends and trust each other, not WHY they are good friends and trust each other.

(Of course, you could ask "Why did Hal and Ollie become friends?" and answer with "Because Denny O'Neil said so.")

Oh goodie! I was just thinking of something I would love to see.

I'm not sure what the exact deal is, but I notice a lot of modern Wonder Woman media -- comics, Injustice, the movie -- have her armed with a sword and shield in addition to her more fantastic iconography (bracelets, lasso of truth).

I'd like to see when she started carrying those, and why. I dig them, but don't remember ever seeing how they came to be a part of her arsenal. I don't remember ever seeing them in older appearances, either, so I don't know if they're an old aspect brought back or a more contemporary creation -- or even if there is anything particularly special about them, or if they're just meant to be stock Amazon equipment.

(And I haven't seen the movie -- yet. I have a pass for two, and we're just trying to fit it into our schedule. Might even be Tuesday!)

I just read the George Perez Wonder Woman Omnibus Vol. 1. Some of the issues contain references to events in other comics (Justice League? Superman?), like a fight against Manhunters or Darkseid, but there's no editor's note explaining what books or issues these stories can be found. So, if you know which stories these are, I'd love to see them. (Or even get an idea of where to find them for myself.)

Seconded, I found that a bit confusing when reading the book.

The Manhunters stuff was Millennium, that much I figured out.

I would like to see the story where Darkseid trashes Olympus, and the bit where Diana meets with Superman to figure out her feelings (someone pointed me at the right one in an off topic thread, but I'd like to see it here).

Looks like that collection stops just short of Invasion so Millennium would have been the only company-wide crossover.

Any Justice League references probably would have been to either the early Giffen/DeMatteis run (WW showed up in that even though she didn't really stick around) or the Legends mini that lead into it (Darkseid was in Legends so it was probably that). Justice League: Year One hadn't been written yet so the status of the Pre-Crisis JLA stories were questionable.

The Superman stuff would have been the Byrne reboot.

More Psylocke!

Actually I'm more curious about that Gamemnae woman. The Atlantian who battled the JLA.

Also anything from 1995-1999 X-Men related excluding the big arcs like onslaught. Far as I know those years haven't been collected in many editions.

Is Gamemnae the one from the Obsidian Age aka the Replacement League? I love that story.

Has there been a good Mr Freeze story since the Animated Series redefined him?

Summer always used to be an opportunity to stay up and watch the late-night horror movies; accordingly, I wouldn't mind seeing a classic Misty story scanned. (My proto-Gothic tweenage self would've eaten up her Tales of the Midnight World, but I hadn't access to them in the U.S.)
