I’m of the opinion that there’s no such thing as a “D-list” character. Every character in a shared universe has something about them that’s cool, or interesting, or worthy of re-examination, which is why my team books so far have tended to feature the less-hyped heroes. So it’s not so much that I want to turn them into something different – the idea is to find something about them that makes me want to tell stories about them, and bring it out. And every character has that something – there’s really no such thing as a bad character in a superhero universe. -- Al Ewing

The whole "Frog/Chameleon Alien Daredevil" thing still cracks me up.

If this title somehow makes it to nine issues, hopefully Ewing will throw in some references to "Rocket Number 9" by Sun Ra.

"Come fight ninjas!"

Daredevil and Elektra's relationship and its effect on his life summed up in one panel.
(That whole scene is pretty brilliant, really.)

I assume that the "jelly baby" panel is a reference to Doctor Who once being a part of Marvel UK's continuity, with the Special Executive originally being from Gallifrey.

Also, is Thug having the same powers as his brother a new thing? I though he only had super-strength before.

AL EWING KNOWS ALL.

... it could be Merlin. The Merlin from Marvel UK's Doctor Who (who may or may not be a future version of the Doctor), is still around.

The Merlyn who showed up in Marvel UK was Merlin AND Rassilon, the Doctor being Merlin himself cropped up in the Sylvester McCoy story Battlefield.

And there's River's comment (in The pandorica Opens I think) that she HATES legends which have wizards in them, because they usually turn out to have been the Doctor.

huh. Sure I saw somewhere there was a comic that said Merlin was a Doctor... hm.

There may very well be! :)

I'm thinking of a Captain Britain and later Excalibur storu, where Merlyn and Roma are involved, and at some point as Merlyn walks across a room, he shapeshifts into a half dozen people who have shown up at various points in the story, and one of them is the DW comics of the time's version of Rassilon

Can be seen here

Marvel UK's Merlyn was everybody. To this day, random members of the Warheads step into the lavvy and whip their eyebrows off so they can smile enigmatically in the mirror.

Mentioning jelly babies in the context of disjointed time travel hijinks pretty much means yes, it's the Doctor being referenced off panel.

Glad I'm not the only one to notice Thug suddenly having Legions powers!

Since technically, or Technetically, Legion is Thug's successor (as the Technet predate the Special Executive in internal chronological terms), it's possible that it's a power Thug acquires and then eventually shares with his brother.

I want a story all about Murd Blurdock training and becoming "Seeing Being". I want their version of Sticks explaining Sight as Comicbook-sciencey and go on a monologue about how there is a mysterious invisible energy called "light" which is the true source of his new ability, how it has always been there protecting them and keeping them warm and how Light is now both Murd's strenght and his greatest weakness.

Better than all the modern variant Oaths, because the analogy is so precise.

I've always appreciated how willing Marvel is to poke fun of itself.

Daredevil's already faced an " enhanced sight " opposite.

(No deafness for her, though- just a heart like a beating drum.)

She should swap stories with Hex from the ClanDestine.
