He didn't predict them, they were always there. This USED TO BE parody, though. And certainly I don't think even he thought the presidency would actually support this sort of thing in actual reality.

Two years ago, I made a comment here (in a thread on a Superman story) complaining that so many comic-book stories about racism go for the easy, obvious targets of "card-carrying white supremacists," instead of examining the more subtle ways in which our society reinforces white privilege. While I still believe the latter is important to do (inside and outside of comics), I now must admit there is once more a place for "Superman [or whichever hero] vs. neo-Nazis and the Klan" stories after all. God help us all. :(
