Black Panther #7: The return of Everett K. Ross!

This is from Black Panther #7, the first issue where Hudlin is no longer the sole writer. Instead, it's co-written with Jonathan Maberry. The previous issues had Morlun being defeated and T'Challa saved, but not before Morlun killed W'Kabi and Zuri. T'Challa's sister Shuri is now the new Black Panther, while T'Challa is still recuperating from when Doom showed him who was boss.

In Christopher Priest's run Everett K. Ross was one of the major supporting characters. He showed up briefly in Hudlin's original run, but he bore little similarity to Priest's version. Now he's back again... and it's more of the same.

Shuri has just finshed meeting with Obama when a voice says "Princess Regent... a word?"






Also, the end of the issue has a little revelation about the Dora Milaje...

Not that I've been keeping up with Hudlin's book, but I thought Storm would have been considered the acting regent/head of state until T'Challa recovered?

Especially since he was _never_ a "spook". He was an Oxford trained lawyer with the Office of the Chief of Protocol.

He's also fallen from "Friend Ross", to "occasionally useful". It apparently aged him 20 years, as well.

Seriously, looking at the way the Princess is drawn in the car scenes, I don't see where her features (nose and lips particularly) are less pronounced than those of the natives in that Fantomah strip. (Better technique and printing, of course). Is it only racist if it's from the Golden Age?

I tend to want to defend people, and would've liked to have supported the idea of 'the couple who live in the same locale as the writer', but the third sockpuppet and the 'omg who is this person (who lives in my tiny town) i have never heard of him before' bad trollery is too much.

"Maberry's own Wikipedia page has an entry on the comments page from 2008 observing that "Maberry is considered to be, at least by some, a relentless self-promoter, including using spam. He's been told several times to stop it and, IIRC, has been privately told that his spam to at least some SF-related organisations is making him the subject of ridicule, but has ignored those emails."

"Ghosts" did receive a positive review from this blog - http://monsura.blogspot.com/2009...ine- ghosts.html - and Maberry himself showed up to comment on it. Intriguingly, he writes the name of his story in all caps - just like Robert, Celia and AJ.
