ext_376821: [a wreathe of Kryptonite for Superman] R.I.P. - From, The Mafia (Default)
[identity profile] galateus.insanejournal.com posting in [community profile] scans_daily

Waaay back in 2006, when the Legion of Super Heroes cartoon first aired, an s_d 1.0 member thought that Bouncing Boy would be the Legionnaire who'd be subtext-y for Supes.

Then the episode "Legacy" happened. Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20.

From Legion of Super Heroes in the 31st Century #11:

(There's a sort of Martian Liberation Front terrorizing the place in J'onn J'onnz's name. "What did the United Planets ever do for us?!")

Yes. Training purposes. Is that what they're calling it now?

Bonus, best interview ever:

WF: Fans sometime turn to the comic book spin-offs to see some of their favorite characters pair up in a romantic context. Legion of Super Heroes had a unique relationship that many fans were hoping to see expanded upon - Brainiac 5 and Superman. Any thoughts on why fans took to that pairing, could have it been explored in any further context, or could it have been done realistically at all? Do you have any thoughts on that relationship, or one you were looking to explore?
JT: I definitely wanted to explore Brainy's "man crush" on Superman more. I also wanted to add Supergirl into the mix at one point and do some fun stuff with that "love triangle." I don't know if Brainy's love for Superman was of the romantic type, but then again, he has a 12th level intellect and his concept of platonic love versus romantic love is probably more complex than we could understand. I don't think we could accurately define it with our 21st century labels, nor would I necessarily want to in the context of this comic book.

(Why did the comic series have to become crappy and get cancelled? Whyyy?)

Seriously though, Legacy also gave us Alexis and that alone makes it worth watching on YouTube right now, go go go.

ETA: Goddammit Photobucket just reduced their bandwidth limit from 25 GB to 10 GB. Yet they still sent me an email saying I'd exceeded the "25 GB" limit...

That first page made it seems like Brainy had a little playset with action figures. A superboy action figure.

Yes Brainy, we get it. You're totally gay for Superboy. We all are. Now drop your pants and get in line, or get off the pot.

Is this GuyLove/Ho-Yay week? [Not that you are seeing any complaints from me ;)]Because, I do think we should make it official, for more, y'know.

"All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the United Planets ever done for us?"

Haha the second season premiere flopped Brainy/Blue straight over into TEXT. I mean, seriously.

Good lord. Is there anyone in the DCU *not* gay for Superman?

*crickets chirp*

Well, fair enough.

Legion got cancelled about ten minutes after the Siegel case settled and WB pulled everything that meant they might have to pay the heirs for Superman appearances. About a half hour after that, the same production unit got turned around to make "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" instead. Look it up.

I exaggerate slightly but it all did happen pretty quickly.

There were a few things I liked about Legion S2, notably the setup of the romance of Chuck and Luornu. You don't have to be a pretty perfect body to have a love story. :-D

I feel so embarrassed for Brainy. Brainy, why do all your teammates know about your Superman Mary Sue fanfiction?

Also, that issue of the comic confused me. Where did the rogue Martians come from? Are they descendants of J'onn? I thought he was the last Martian. (The comic doesn't even match up with the cartoon, though, so I'm not sure why that should bug me.)

There's no doubt Brainy was gay for Supes (especially in the 2nd season, sheesh).

I just realized that the lonely weird and smart types always have a thing for Supes, I mean just look at Lex, Bruce, Brainy and Alexis! Bruce to a lesser degree though but it's still there.

Also Clark is a stalker magnet.

Freudian slip alert! Brainy talks about a mango-ball tournament.

Brainy: Do you know how hard it is to find "glitter" and "gluesticks?"
Phantom Girl: No, but apparently you do.
Brainy: ...Dammit.

It's probably a good thing Superman got lost on Mars instead of going to the museum. He's got no money and Brainy forgot to to give him the $1.50 admission fee.

(Also, it seems you've exceeded your Photobucket limit.)

Hey everyone, do you guys think there is a chance we can have this series back on TV, I mean a way we can get a third season or something? Is there anything we can do?
