So basically, Norman has captured Aurora and put a helmet on that makes her second personality take control, and is basically trying to force her to join his Dark X-men, and well...




Then she just kind of walks out, the story is called "The one who got away." Heh.

The idea seems to be that she's creating new personalities as a defence mechanism, she keeps producing them until she finds one that can take it.

I get that part, I'm just saying she's been portrayed as being a mess with conflicting personalities and stuff, and then they "fixed" all her personalities into one, but then split her up again. So now what's gonna happen next time someone writes her with 8 different personalities...

Still, her bad-assitude cannot be denied.

I doubt she was ever really fixed. She re-experienced her life, which is what gave her multiple personalities in the first place. She was probably just down to her basic two-personality split.

Well I thought she was completely fixed, give that the process was interupted and left both her & Northstar messed up and what actually "fixed" them both was when they touched and emitted that radiant light thing they do. But I see your point since it was never actually stated that she was fixed.

Keep in mind the damage was done to her, the stuff that split her personality, was done to her very early in her life, not after becoming a super hero. So not finishing wouldn't have made a difference, it would ahve been one of the first things she experienced.

The light just let them seperate themselves. If the light could fix her it would have done so one of the hundreds of other times they'd used it.

Stress and pain causing Aurora to form a brand new personality has at least one example of happening before.

The underrated WEAPON X series by Frank Tieri had Aurora develop a third personality completely different from Jeanne-Marie or Aurora. This was a reaction to the sudden beating her lover Malcolm Colcord gave her combined with a violent coup at Weapon X by Brent Jackson. (Malcolm, already nutty, went extra crazy after Jackson called him a "mutant lover.")

Aurora helped Colcord and Madison Jeffries escape, but the third personality (much more violent than Aurora had ever been) beat the hell out of Colcord (at superspeed) and left him and Jeffries stranded in Canada.

That would be at least her fourth personality I think, since in the old Alpha Flight series she had three; the repressed Jeanne-Marie Beaubier, the hedonistic, some might say wanton, Aurora, and a third personality also called Aurora which was more balanced than either of the first two was coming into being.

I have a question for the group: Are Northstar and Aurora the most messed up characters in Marveldom? He's been dead like 9 times; she goes from multiple personality disorder to cured and back in every single appearence... plus they were elves once. Elves for chrissakes!

Fortunately, that was easily explained away by Loki being a big, fat liar.

Turned out those were evil elves/sprites/fairies who captured Northstar (Loki had something to do with it), and he was rescued and returned to Alpha Flight. Byrne did something before leaving AF where he had the Flighters trapped in Shaman's pouch, which was described as having the capability of driving a sane person mad. The only member conscious inside the pouch was Aurora. She had no dialog for the rest of the series under Byrne. Always thought he'd left the option for the next writer to have her cured. No takers, unfortunately. She'll most likely always be portrayed as mentally fragile. She, Wanda, and Lorna could start a support group.

You know, after Osborn tried to murder the Fantastic Four's kids, and after he kidnaps, mind-controls, and attempts to murder a foreign national superhero here, someone somewhere in the Marvel Universe would think, "You know, maybe putting Osborn in charge was a bad call."

Being rather unfamiliar with Alpha Flight and its members, this is the first time I've ever heard that Aurora had multiple personalities. Learn something new every day.
