He actually does have some personality in the second Hood series that's taking place before he was exorcised. And Satana Hellstrom shows up--always a bonus.
I actually thought he had a decent backstory in his original miniseries. But he doesn't seem like anything but a generic boss character these days, at least from the stuff that's been posted here.
It always makes me mad when she turns back up. The character sacrificed her own life in the service of good back in Marvel team-Up #81, and was subsequently eulogized by both Dr. Strange AND her father as having gone on to a better place in the afterlife. The retcon in that Hellstorm series that had her condemned to Hell for her troubles and returned as a soul-eating mystical villain really rubbed me the wrong way.
While I sympathize, I didn't like her death. It seemed kind of trite. Difficult to say regarding the Hellstorm series, despite me starting it, I just couldn't stay interested so I never saw what you're talking about. I do remember that she was supposed to basically have a human soul and a demonic spirit called the Basilisk, so one could see that her demonness not only dragged her to hell, it made it so she was never completely dead (as most wizards can never be trusted to be completely dead).
Or you can wank that, as it was warned that she might be replaced by the Basilisk portion of her soul one day, when she died, her soul split, the human side going to heaven, the demonic side going to hell until it was ready to go full demony. I do know that the one-shot of Satana recently showed her as evil as she ever was, keeping old conquests as soul sculpture, just..abstaining from currently sucking men's souls.
Hmm. The story I mentioned was pretty clear about the Basilisk dying at the same time she did, and Satana being freed from it as she passed away. I suppose it could be what's currently walking around wearing Satana's face and doing evil deeds.
If I thought he were cunning, smart and SOB-ish enough to actually do that, I might find him interesting.
Grabbing a handful of awesomely powerful magic stones on the recommendation of the self-proclaimed God of Mischief and Malice, who you'll notice ISN'T trying to grab them for her/himself, should set off every alarm bell in his head ringing like a five alarm fire.

I was kinda liking Hood in the series for some reason. The double life as a semi-normal married man and crime overlord seemed interesting.
