I'd guess while reading older comics you get pretty much used to every kind of... let's say, interesting clothing, but this bold combination Kory's wearing really cracked me up:

And while I'm at it, the whole scene from New Teen Titans #6 (from 1984), featuring a camp fire, some emo heart-to-heart conversation and Vic posing dramatically. (8 pages in total, which should still be fine with the posting rules since the issue has 25 pages.)

Let's have some context first: in the first five issues good old enemy Trigon made a comeback (causing Raven to go all Vader) and confronted the Titans with their worst nightmares. Final battle, good guys won, Raven disappeared and the happy people of New York celebrated the victory of the Teen Titans (they even got a parade!). But the nightmares are still nagging at our heroes, so Donna & Terry take the initiative...




Seeing Gar with the sausages made me immediately think of Teen Titans Go!-Gar and wonder if they're made of tofu... However, now that everyone is gathered, we can start pouring our hearts out.




... is it just me who thinks that "Mebbe I could've made Tara see the light" sounds unintentionally funny?










We can't forget the leader now, can we?










And amen to that.

Okay, a few questions for you guys.

1. Who is the girl with the red hair wearing the pink shirt with the black and white sleeves?

2. Does anyone else just not like Kory at all? I've never been a Titans reader, so most of the stuff I've seen/heard about her has been through online scans and such, but I just can't stand her. And I don't even know why. She just annoys the crap out of me for some reason. Although I will say in these scans her, "There's nothing wrong with being pretty" line kind of irks me.

3. Terry Long is still a creepy old guy. Okay, that one wasn't a question, but it needed to be said.

Terry Long: Perpetual Moment-Ruiner

So, Dick makes this awesome, inspiring speech...and then Terry ruins the moment. Again.

Man, I wish Kory were still written like this. She has more to her than just being this sex object. Though about her clothing choice, I've got to say: subtle, Kory. Reaaal subtle.

Also, now I'm totally wondering what Dick's religious views and politics are. Thoughts, anyone?

As regards religion, he says in the "Brother Blood" introductory arc that he believes, but he doesn't attend reguarly (at least I think he does, either he or Wally says it and now I can't recall which)

As for politics, in an early New Teen Titans Wally gets into an argument with the Titans over their treatment of Soviet hero Red Star and mentions that HE doesn't hold it against them for being left wing, so he'd appreciate it if they'd consider his conservative sensibilities about trusting a agent of the USSR.

This is a nod to their earlier camping trip which was the core of the original "Tales of the New Teen Titans" miniseries (which gave origins for Cyborg, Changeling, Raven and Starfire)

Sigh, this was the (happy) era when it was the Titans that defined Dick's decision to stop being Robin and become Nightwing, and had bugger all to do with Batman in a snit, I still miss it.

Oh, and work that 80's sleeveless T Dickie boy! (Not sure about with those trousers and shoes, but never mind.... and "Yes" I know the outfit Kory is wearing is more blatant, but we focus on our fancies!)

And Perez always drew Gar being such a hairy little dude, especially considering he's about 4 years younger than smooth-as-silk "Legs" Grayson.

In the very first episode of the Teen Titans cartoon Gar insists on a veggy pizza 'cause "he's already been most animals". Later on he's advertising his tofu stuff a lot of times.

Gar being a vegetarian actually made sense to me. :D

Kory reminds me of a Pomeranian I used to live with. Her answer to everything was pretty much, "I'm pretty and everyone loves me" too. So I can't really dislike her.

Terry's pose in the last panel cracks me up. Just make sure we can see the label there, Terry.

And again, some of those poses are hilarious, especially Dick's dance number. If I were Terry I would so never have wanted to go on this trip.

I for one have alwasy liked the Animated series Starfire, as it feels more like the character is supposed to be, instead of what recent Bat-writers have made her out to be ( a sexy blow-up doll, who Dick only went with because of a phase (that line made me so angry when I read it), who is inherently inferior to Babs Gordon).

Kory has sufferred from bad writing for awhile now, partially because of her connection to the Bat-titles, who seem to contain writers who seem to think "strong and emotional = stupid and immature."

I really feel sorry for her character sometimes.
