... Establishing the new status quo for Peter and his "new girl," as discussed in this post.

HA HA HA SHE JUST NEEDED A GOOD STIFF ONE TO SET HER STRAIGHT AMIRITE???

NEVER MIND THAT IT WAS A SUPERVILLAIN WHO RAPED HER USING PETER'S FACE, BECAUSE COMEDY!!!

... Shit like this makes me think that whoever wrote it believes that vaginas have teeth.

I understand this is the so-cool new stuff we're supposed to like. Or have demanded. Or something.

Until such time as the Internet can agree on a font appropriate for representing disgust, the simple word "Eeeewww!" cannot convey the levels of squirming unpleasantness that this represents.

Never. He's running a pretty successful comic book company that pumps out awesome material for movies and franchises. They dont care about 8 pages of a Spiderman comic being like a shitty sitcom.

I really wasn't expecting this from Van Lente. I hope he was just following the plan laid out by Joe Kelly, because, damn...this is messed up.

Is it me, or is Peter Parker turning into Ethan Macanus?

What... happened to her face? She looks like someone drawn by Moy now! (I like Moy.) But she was way harder edged.

... seriously, what? Was this Chameleon storyline a way to divert things, re-re-reset the status quote, having Peter alienate everyone he knows, reset things to highschool status?

... hm
Is Michelle a mutant with the power to talk to birds?

I think Steve Wacker has said that all Chameleon did to Michelle was "steal kisses". Although people will probably say that's just damage control.

While they both slid down onto the kitchen floor, below the table.

Although people will probably say that's just damage control.

Uh-huh. Because all they did was kiss, while lying on the floor together, out of sight of the viewer.

That's like saying that Peter and Michelle didn't have sex because Peter was wearing his boxers when he woke up.

To play devil's advocate:

It has nothing to do with "needing a good stiff one", but rather needing an affirmation that the night together meant as much to him as it did to her. Her initial negative reaction to his shock and confusion was her own embarassment and frustration that the romantic spark that she felt for him and that she'd thought they had just consumated was not in fact reciprocated. She was throwing him out because of how difficult it would be to live with someone she had unrequited feelings for who had rejected her.

When Chameleon-as-Peter showed the sober intimacy with her that actual-Peter had not, she read into it what she wanted to read into it and decided to forgive and forget Peter's initial reaction, writing it off as not being fully awake, lingering alcohol, whatever. Once it's settled in her mind that he does reciprocate her feelings, she establishes that they are now in a proper relationship, thus further sex is a-okay, as well as her efforts seen here to turn him into a suitable boyfriend. A verbal heart-to-heart that ended with "Peter" confessing feelings for her would have had the same effect.

Of course, there's still no excuse whatsoever for playing for laughs Chameleon-as-Peter raping her. At all. Ever.

Also I'll grant that even if the above was the intended reasoning, it still wouldn't be great storytelling (though at least not completely offensive), and the fact that the writing -could- be taken as "hot dickings = compliant woman" would still be failtastic.

And he still absolutely no matter what needs to tell her that it was Chameleon. Not doing so goes beyond dishonest and into "accessory after the fact".

WHAT romantic spark??? They were DRUNK -BLACKOUT drunk, at least in Peter's case - and Wacker has flatly stated that Michelle has NEVER liked or respected Peter in any way whatsoever. Even with alcohol, this story has given NO REASON WHATSOEVER for them to have sex, beyond The Plot Says So, which means that Michelle is either a character who was MEANT to be portrayed as having sex with men whom she doesn't like or respect, or else the writers' ideas about both women and relationships are defined purely by shitty sitcoms, in which The Bitch magically falls in love with The Loser for no other reason than "It's funny" (even though it isn't).

It's funny because I think this will be something (like Sins of the Past or One Fine Day) that readers/other creators will be making jokes about years from now.

Rape is not cool, saying it wasn't rape is not cool, trapping Peter in a relationship he doesn't want with a woman who's never liked him and vice versa is not cool. Making Michelle into a Latina stereotype is not cool as is turning her into a woman who suddenly starts picking out the drapes and re-arranging the life of a guy just because she's had sex with him (and who she earlier that day had detested).

This storyline is all kinds of fail and hackery. Others within Marvel must see it - do they have any women working there? Is there nobody at Marvel (especially with it's new owners) who is willing to tell Queseda the truth?

really the only thing I find bothersome is the fact that michelle seemed much more like a free spirit before this. Not at all the type to go all stepford bride on them. Yes, she could have feelings for parker, but i saw her more as the type of girl who could tease peter playfully with his friends, while at the same time sticking up for him (being his plus one to save face with his friends) all while taking shots of tequila just having a good ol time.

but now she is saying "no man of mine is going to be late coming home, or looking so tacky, especially since i am going to introduce you to my parents."

I DO however see her telling her brother she was dating him just to piss him off. In other words, they Turned "Michelle Rodriguez," into "Kate Hudson" from How to loose a guy in 10 days.

I was actually likeing the possibility of her being his new (until the whole sells marriage to the devil thing gets fixwed) girl since she was so unlike MJ or Gwen. She is a cop's sister (wasn't her dad a cop too?), and a Latina to boot, now they.... blondeized her.....

Aw man, this is really bringing up memories of my brother's first girlfriend. She did the whole makeover thing with him and all of a sudden we was wearing khakis and had his hair frosted and crap like that. Also, her mother would be talking to my mom about things like how they'd be taking care of "the grandkids" together someday. Meanwhile, my mom and I are like 0_0. *shudders*

So to sum up, this storyline is made of FAIL.
