I always loved this version that Logan got from that guy "Fang" in the Imperial guard.

X-23 pics in the outift added ( those must be some VERY unstable molecules in the fabric )

Bonus page Misty Knight !!!

Didn't X-23 wear this for a time ? Anyone have any scans ?

This is from Ironfist 14 tags people.

I know Wolverine lusted after Jean for a long while, but were they ever actually together for more than one kiss or a kiss and fade to black? Or was he dating Misty at this point?

No, he's PINING for 'Jeanie' at this point. He actively considers himself in a tussle with Summers for her affections, which Jean kinda-sorta reciprocates. It's clear she loves Scott, but Wolverine's bad boy nature appeals to her more than she likes to admit. But that doesn't make her 'his woman' in reality. Notice that Scott and Jean have run out together and Wolverine has just shown up alone at her apartment.

The X-men were friends with Iron Fist, Power Man and Co. for awhile, I rather liked that, and would love to see it revisited.

Imagine the inevitable arguments over who left the milk container almost empty, didn't sent the rent check in or left the bathroom a mess. Whew. Neighbors would be hiding under their furniture.

Byrne and Claremont got their start working on Iron Fist, so this was one reason Claremont revisited them (and they both worked on Marvel Team-Up with Spidey, which led directly to his guest-star during the Arcade story).

Back then, it was nice when the Marvel Universe meshed so well and it seemed like most heroes were friends, not bitter political enemies locked in a war of ideals.

Heh, imagine if Xavier had somehow gotten Iron Fist to take up a teaching position at the academy. Already terrifying hand to hand fighters would be even more so. It would have been great.

What the hell, isn't that Sabretooth's costume?

No, it's Fang's, from the Imperial Guard.

He had a magic costume. If you ever found yourself naked, just beat him up and take his costume. It will fit you no matter the size you need. It fit a short and stubby Wolverine and it fit a thin girl X21..Or X22..Or Wolverine-Lass. Or whatever her name is. You'd think she'd get a name by now.

No, it's not the original costume, X-23 is wearing a duplicate from a superhero theme restaurant.

Which in turn was a variation on Timber Wolf from the LSH, which Cockrum had just worked on (and whom the Imperial Guard are a riff on).

In the stakes of "Stupid and pointless hero v hero" fights this is one of the most facepalming ones, only happening because Wolverine really is just acting like an idiot throughout.

But pretty well keeping with Wolverine's original portrayal in X-men. "You tag me out in a baseball game? RAAAR! GUT YOU!"

"You Sink My Battleship!? ARRRRGH!"

"You taped over my favorite soaps!? ARRRGH!"

Wolverine was never fun to hang around with back then.

Kurt Wagner will not hide behind an image inducer's mask ever again.

Good to see you're keeping your promises, Kurt. *sigh*

Also: "Beastly Bamfer".

Yes. A lot of times. There's even a Wolverine issue stating he has 5 different ones at this point. So much for integrity.

I wouldn't blame Kurt for later writers changing his stance. He didn't use them again for a long time, iirc. It wasn't until post-Claremont that he resumed their use, I think.

Mind you, if he made a discussion of it, I could see it making sense. "I used to naively think that I could walk around in my native form...but that was before 'House of M' or {event of your choice). Now it would be an invitation for violence."

Yeah, Claremont has kept Kurt's stance consistent. Under his pen, Kurt has always walked around as himself in public. It was Rucka (I think - he might have used it before) who suddenly had him use it again when visiting Kitty in Chicago (X-men Unlimited #38) and there was no explanation given for why he'd changed his mind. The one you gave might have worked, except that he had been met with violence before. He had just decided he wasn't going to let that stop him.
I could see several good reasons to use the image inducer, but without an explanation, it just comes off as "he chickened out". Which is a shame, because making that promise was a very important step for Kurt.

He'd used one years earlier when Excalibur broke up and he, Kitty and Piotr were returning to the USA by boat. Ostensibly so they could travel and relax incognito, but I recall it seeming weird at the time.

You know what's weird to me about the above scans in regards to that is that Kurt is in his costume. I mean Kurt shouldn't hide and this was around the time he learned that, so good for him, but wow going out in that costume is just weird. And not that classy. And we all know Kurt is a snappy dresser.

Logan: RAWR! MY WOMAN!
*crash* *bang* *smash*
Jean: RAWR! MY APARTMENT!
*SHZAM!*
Kurt: *sigh* May I trouble you for some aspirin?

So Jean stole "sh[a]zam" from DC, then Vixen stole "Fang's" costume from Marvel. It all works out.

Okay, this is on PURPOSE. Misty's bathing suit is Saturn Girl's Pink Bathing Suit costume. That's just after we caught her wearing Phantom Lass'.

Also, I love this era.

Not the 'look', I'm saying she's worn civilian adapted versions of two LSH uniforms now. This bathing suit only differs by having a circle instead of a saturn attaching the top and the bottom.

Well, since Cockrum designed a LOT of the legions costumes AND the new X-men and took some character designs from one to the other (Storm being a perfect example), it could either be an in-joke OR just a result of him reusing his own designs.

Did Cockrum ink Byrne on this?

From: [identity profile] ruthk.insanejournal.com
Actually, Byrne statd that editor-in-chief had Cockrum redraw the X-Men's faces, so they'd look more like in the actual X-Men title. Which is, of course, ironic, because by the time that issue came out Byrne was the regular artist of the X-Men.

Marvel did this with a lot of early (all new, all deadly) appearances I think Dave did Kurt’s face in A issue of spectacular spider man too (don’t remember the issue number though (Punshier was there too.)I actually like Dave Cockrum better than Bryne, just sometime about the set-ups and back ground.

I love how extremely embarrassed Storm gets when she has to explain that she assumed the worst due to being hit in the face with a bowl of potato salad. I mean, it'd be one thing if it happened to you or me, but for someone who faces Magneto and the Juggernaut on a semi-regular basis? Oy. I bet she got teased about that one for a while.
