After saving Rogue's life in Messiah Complex, Mystique finds herself on the run from Wolverine, who has been ordered by Cyclops to kill her.

Wolverine, who is so desperate to get Mystique that he'll team up with his old friends the Taliban to do it.

This is from Wolverine #63 and #64, by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney. To keep Wolverine away from her, Mystique is impersonating a US Senator.

Ah Jason Aaron, the comic world is a better place with you in it.

Jason Aaron is one of the better comic writers of this day and age, yes.

About the only criticism I can find in Aaron's work so far is he's only written "grim, dark, and gritty" stuff. Although if you read Wolverine issue 74 you'll see he can write a fantastic Spider-man.

Mystique is a rapist 8D [/troll]

Seriously, Mystique is having loads of sex using someone elses face and even bore two children as a result of it.

About as relevant as bringing up why Wolverine should go after Daken NOW NOW NOW NOW I'd say

See, this is what makes it so hard to believe you actually read comics. In the arc Mystique is shown to betray and kill her friends over and over again during the 19th century. At the start of this arc she kills several unarmed villagers. Before this arc she betrayed and attempted to kill both X-Men teams, all underage students at the X-mansion and a baby - not for anyone's good but her own.

But I guess that pales in comparision to half-rape, pushing someone already interested to sleep with the sexy celebrity is practically a crime against humanity.

Hitting a new low with every response. First you try to justify killing an odd thirty (I'd planned to write fifty but I'll be generous) people including a baby with "she did it for her adopted daughter", then you're calling me out by posting scans of a bad person doing something horrible. Do you really want us to trade scans all night, trying to one-up each other whilst arguing over which act is worst? I probably could, but that's really, really pathetic and won't lead to anything at all since you have your heels dug in and won't consider any differing opinion. I wish you could have told me from the beginning so you wouldn't have wasted my time.

Maybe I'm missing something, but weren't you one of the people on the "What Chameleon did wasn't rape" side when it was assumed he had sex with Michelle?

From: [identity profile] daso.insanejournal.com
Who am I to argue with what a British law says? It's rape some place in the world, so that counts as far as we're concerned right?
(except that they, you know, didn't have sex)

From: [identity profile] cyberghostface.insanejournal.com
Hence, the "when it was assumed".

So why are you arguing that Mystique is a rapist, since by your standards, Chameleon would not be even if he did have sex (for the sake of argument)?

What do my standards matter if the majority disagrees? I was told that I was objectively wrong because the entire scans_daily thought something else, I guess that objectively means that it's rape.

No, my question is, why do you think Mystique is a rapist if Chameleon isn't (again, for the sake of argument, I know they just 'made out'--prior, the debate was never, "did they have sex", but rather "would that constitute as rape")?

I'm just asking because it's the same exact thing--a shapeshifter pretending to be someone else and duping someone to have sex with them--and yet you're calling Mystique a rapist and saying Chameleon wasn't?

From: [identity profile] daso.insanejournal.com
All right, I'll stop pussyfooting around. I was trolling with the "Mystique is a rapist 8D" (hence the tag) because I wanted to know how people could accept Mystique having sex in any face that isn't blue but not Chameleon. I'll leave out my views on the subject because I don't think that debate needs revisiting but just like you're saying, it's the exact same thing and I think it's double standards.

(thanks for having the patience with me ;] )

No prob. :)

For the record, I think Mystique counts as a rapist too if she's having sex with someone who doesn't know who she really is.

Weren't you telling me over here (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/955093.html?thread=26530517#t26530517) that you didn't think the comparison needed to be brought up all the time? Is it only okay if you do it?

I said three days ago over here (http://box-in-the-box.livejournal.com/285334.html?thread=2590358#t2590358) that I had no problems describing Mystique's sex by impersonation as rape, so not a double standard.

And I admitted I was trolling when I brought it up.
It's good to see that you are consistent.

I suppose, but that's the kind of stories he likes to write :)
Just like David likes to write wordy stories and Dini likes to throw Zatanna in every issue ever (srsly Paul).

I still can't believe how much Garney improved his work since Uncanny X-Men. In a few years, he's gone from crappy art to awesome art.

Hm, I wonder if these are the "nice" Taliban members that helped out James Bond and Rambo, or the horrible ones like in Punisher Max?

To be quite honest they never say "taliban" in the comic. They could be bandit tribes from the northern part of Afghanistan, now living in Iraq.

Not that it matters, the US supplied both taliban and tribesmen with weapons during the 80's, but, you know.

1. What is the Taliban doing in Iraq?
2. Why does Wolverine carbomb himself in the middle of nowhere? Not to mention his healing power kicking in too soon as it would seem to have been a matter of hours to bring his body to the US base.
3: Why would US soldiers accept the body? What use is it to them?

1. Not talibans
2. because he doesn't want to hurt americans, he says so in the scans
3. because they want to identify it, they say so in the scans

It's thing like "Logan had some connection with the Taliban" that would, in theory, make me want to read Wolverine Origins. But I keep hearing such bad things about it.

When I first heard of this, I went "...what." After seeing this, I can accept it.

One problem--if Logan was helping these guys in Afghanistan in the '80s, wouldn't that be pretty close to when he became part of the X-Men, or at least part of the Canadian government?

No, sliding timescale.

...But then again this is the guy who can bee on four teams at once, you think he'd have any trouble being in two countries? ;)

She worked for Hydra once I think. They're essentially Nazis most of the time.
