It's Christmas and near the end of No Man's Land, JPV has gotten a harmonica as a present. This leads to this,

Is dropping rubbish on the floor something that helps you kill people?

I know she is unsocialised, but that is just rude.

Well she was a street kid for about half her life, living rough and eating raw cows for example, maybe she hadn't gotten to the no littering part yet of her reeductation.

Yeah, maybe. It just seems like an odd footnote to such a disciplined life.

Guess people have'em, though.

(It makes me like her a little less, though.)

It seems weird to me too. Presumably she would see that Alfred picks this stuff up.

It seems a little weird to me that Cass would keep doing it after seeing Alfred picking up after her, but in this scene, I like it. I think Cass being a slob is a nice contrast to her usually disciplined character.

Perhaps she simply figures that's his job. She whups bad-guys, he picks up stuff lying around.

Then again, she never really gave much consideration to the fact that she comes home to a tidied apartment each night, so she may simply be oblivious to such matters. Tunnelvision, as it were.

I got the feeling it was a bit of both. Cass knows that it's Alfred's job to help take care of Batman and his charges, but she's a bit oblivious about what that actually entails.

Hey. You saw Alfred pick up that banana peel. Keep dropping those and someone will slip on them eventually.

Actually, as I recall, there's a good scene in one of the Giant-Size issues that came out around the time of the X-Men: Deadly Genesis mini, featuring the first Thunderbird. He walks through Wolverine's immensely messy room and comments that, to the untrained eye, it would just be that, but that it is actually beneficial to detecting unwelcome intruders (sounds, displacement of items).

I'd buy that as a reason if Alfred hadn't been cleaning everyday without her noticing..
