This morning, when I was out in town, the thought popped into my head that somewhere on my bookcase was the Q Magazine special on R.E.M. circa Reveal that included a picture of Michael Stipe as Blackagar Boltagon )
But I can't just post that on its own, so I'll need a few other things to bulk it up. Like Phil Noto's photo-essay on live in the 60s Marvel Universe. )

And while I went through his tumblr to find the pictures, I found bundles of other cool stuff there too.  )

So last month IGN started a poll asking readers whether they preferred Marvel or DC in a number of different categories including heroes, villains, movies, and games.

What were the results?! Well you'll have to click behind the cut to find out!

Surprised? Or was it what you thought would be the case? )

Greetings True Believers!

To my knowledge Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes #4 is the only time Wade has appeared in the MAverse.

He chews the scenery and leads the Avengers on a merry chase through New York City.

Enjoy!

I'm just feeling all wistful. Must be the weather.

At one point, people believed him dead, and two people in particular cared enough to mourn him. Mystique, and surprise, Johnny Storm.

The only ones who ever cared for him other than Logan, and they seem to be dead. Probably why he kept so distant.

Is there a word for the fear of caring for someone? )

FF#1 came out this week.

It was amazing.

iFanboy made it their pick of the week, giving Hickman an FF hat-trick of the death issue, the final issue and the first issue that they made pick of the week.

There's some cracking ideas in this, and the new status quo is being developed nicely.

Because FF doesn't just stand for Future Foundation... )

Taco Bell recently (a week or so ago?) began a comic related special. With any kids meal order, as the "toy" for the meal is a free 12 page comic. The comics are very very amusing stuff and have much of a Marvel Adventures like feel to them. The comics are of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and Iron Man. If you're the sort who doesn't like eating at Taco Bell, fear not! One can also purchase them separately as I did. I'm guessing it'll vary by store but you can get all 4 for something like $6.

Now while each comic has a fun 11 page story one of my favorite parts is a one page strip from Colleen Coover about the issues group/person.

So I'm posting 4 pages, one from each plus a page of the regular story for the Avengers issue to show what seems to be a pretty amazing name usage for Carol Danvers.

Nono, Carol's codename is not Cheeseburger, fear not. )

Tomorrow as many may have heard shall be the re-lease of Fantastic Four #587, featuring a Fantastic Four member dying, with speculation going for virtually each member.

In 2006 however the concept was kinda toyed around with in a one-shot Fantastic Four: A Death in the Family in which a member died, sorta. I decided this'd be a nice story to post too since I've been a fan of the Human Torch ever since I saw him as a kid.

The story was 23 pages and I'll be posting 7.5 pages

After Solve Everything and the Prime Elements arcs, Dale Eaglesham left Fantastic Four, passing Steve Epting as he moved on to some Captain America stuff. Now, Eaglesham's work on Fantastic Four was amazing. It was reminiscent of the Jack Kirby stuff in terms of figure work and the over-the-top style.

Wouldn't it be great if Eaglesham could draw a retro Fantastic Four book? It could be like Iron Man Legacy or Batman Confidential, but for Fantastic Four. I would buy loads of them.

But, Eaglesham sort of has drawn a retro Fantastic Four book, thanks to two staples of the Marvel Universe - Secret Origins ) and What If  )

I guess I'll be the first to say that my favorite Science super hero (after the Blue Beetle) is Reed Richards.

Gasp! But why?? you ask...well, I have my reasons.

various panels and explanations behind the cut )

People have already posted about Reed's explanation over his name and his One Perfect Moment. I suggest going back and reading those posts too for more insight on Reed. ♥

Nobody requested this post.

It doesn't fit into any set theme for theme month.

It isn't even anything hot off the presses.

But it's something that I think is pretty cool - the origin of Mr. Fantastic. Not the character, the name.

This collects the oft-reprinted and emulated Fantastic Four #1, the crib scene in Waid/Wieringo's first issue of Fantastic Four (v3 #60) and extracts from this summer's autumn's Ataque del M.O.D.O.K.
In the beginning... )
And Mark Waid has himtelling the story to Valeria )

And the much promised secret origin from this year's visually arresting Ataque Del M.O.D.O.K.! )
