The new issue of Teen Titans is out today, and it's a kind of breather issue between Big Epic Battle Sequences - the one we've just finished with Trigon & Co., and the upcoming Forever Evil sub-issues (numbered #23.1 and #23.2) featuring Trigon and Deathstroke.

You'll recall that last issue ended a little something like this:

Titans? Anyone? HELP? )

We have a guest artist in Robson Rocha this issue, whose pencils are serviceable, and inker Wayne Faucher. But I continue to hate the coloring jobs we're getting on this book.

For those who felt that the whole "Batman inc." was something of a sausagefest (especially after the New 52 wiped out two of it's more prominent female members), the tumlr based webcomic "Batgirl Inc." may be what you need.

This is the description from the creators

Batgirl Inc is an au Batman Family webcomic and creative initiative starring Barbara Gordon, Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown that chronicles the mysterious circumstances that bring these girls together as Batgirl Inc in order to combat a growing threat whose shadow has encroached upon Gotham. This is heroics done the Batgirl way: awesomely

Babs seems to be the primary batgirl, with Tim Drake providing Oracle-like support.

They've just completed their first issue (It's a slow release thing), but they have just started a "Summer Special" issue...

And you know what Summer Special means....

In the past post I made, I presented a case where the foundation for a possible relationship between Tim Drake and Cass Cain could have been build upon,
http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/4424927.html

In THIS post, I'll show why and how I think that them becoming a couple just prior to the reboot was a thing. And establish a narrative using what's there to make sense of the Cass Cain Brainwashing Fiasco.

Yeah, it's totally subjective, but I think that there's evidence there that makes sense.

In my never-ending quest to prove that 90s Batman comics weren't the mess of gloom, doom, and violence that everyone says they were, I present several instances from the Bat-comics of that period that genuinely made me laugh. These cover all three periods of the nineties - early, mid, and late.

From The New York Post (Which actually refers to Morrison's "Lilting Scottish brogue". Good Lord guys, he's GLASWEGIAN... if that's a brogue, what the hell does a full blown accent sound like to these people)

Grant Morrison (quite possibly with an eye to the publicity such comments engender) has commented that "I think people will hate it."

Well, this is a difficult posting task - once again Lobdell, Barrows and Merino have committed rampant Double-Page Splash Abuse in crafting their fight scene. So I'm giving you a summary of the fight and three post-fight pages.

Did I miss anything, Red Robin? )

Next Issue: "The End of a Titan!" (But Not the One You Think!)

In which the Titans take on Raven's three demonic half-brothers, and we get a better look at what nU!Raven can/will do in action.

You people don't set the bar very high... )

- or, "The One In Which Nothing Happens." No, really. Nothing happens. Certainly this "Red Robin Reborn!" stuff from the cover:

 photo p2_teentitans20_preview.jpg

doesn't happen.

We do learn that earth-time and azarath-time move differently, and in earth-time it's only been a few weeks since Phantom Stranger sold Rachel Roth out to Trigon, but it's been a much longer time, possibly years, for Raven on Azarath. This may help explain why in earth-time scenes only about five minutes have passed since the very messy end of last issue, while Trigon takes his sweet time explaining the family history to his sons back home.

Cease your prattle a moment and all will be made clear. )

And looking at that splash, can I just say, I think Trigon prefers Raven 'cause she's the only one of his kids that's pretty?

No, really, that's what it's called. Approximately 3 pages (2 whole, 2 halves) from the new issue.

They are the Teen Titans. This isn't their best day. )

BTW, is anyone else getting the "Image has been moved or deleted" placeholder on part of the s_d header?

Solo was a series that DC released that contained one-shot stories by a variety of artists, so from issue to issue the internal look of the thing changed massively. The trade is coming out in June.

Anyway, Damion Scott, co-creator of Cass Cain, got a couple of sections, both involving his character. Oddly though they were drawn in the style he picked up after he left her solo series... taking on a style that is kind of, er, different?
