EDIT: Seems that the six new titles are meant to be replacing: BLACKHAWKS, HAWK AND DOVE, MEN OF WAR, MISTER TERRIFIC, O.M.A.C. and STATIC SHOCK.

No, please, don't cancel Hawk and Dove. Where will we get out Rob Liefeld art from now.

Gotta say, compared to last year, this year has been good to me and am very much looking forward to 2012! :)

Among the positives of 2011...I guess rejoining this comm after my two year hiatus from it. I was originally a member of the LJ comm before it got flushed by the LJ Gods, and was mostly active there in 2007-2008 (around the time I actually got into mainstream comics). Admittedly I was reluctant to rejoin this comm at first since I noticed things were a bit...well *different* from the original LJ version, but after being here the last couple of months, I gotta say it's been worth it. :}

Comics-wise? Heh...honestly? I've only read three titles that were published this year prior to the relaunch: Power Girl, Gotham City Sirens, and Birds of Prey Vol. 2; all of them being girl-leading books. (You are all now free to tell me I've missed out on a lot. I've had one person tell me that already). :P

All three books were okay this year. Admittedly I felt Power Girl's book was better under the Jimmy Palmiotti/Amanda Conner team since they captured the character's wit and essence beautifully while bringing a sense of fun to the book. It was certainly a nice change of pace from the grim and gritty books I was accustomed to reading. Under Judd Winick...the book had its moments but didn't have the same flavour from the previous run. :(

So now I wrap up this post (and the last remaining hours of the year) with my favourite BOP scene of 2011!!!! :D

Is there booze? Oh yes. Epic fun? Most definitely. Naked beefcakey men? Haha, you'll have to click and see! ;) )

As the saying goes...HAPPY NEW YEAR PEEPS! ;)

Yesterday was the Los Angeles screening of the 6 minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises for reporters and journalists, and of course, the web monkeys over at Batman-News got a hold of the detailed description of Bane's first appearance.

MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! )

Source.

All I have to say is, we have a week to find out how 'bad ass' this intro is. For those of you who don't know, the 6 minute prologue premieres next weekend with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at select IMAX theatres. :}

Fury Of Firestorm The Nuclear Men #1 has two distinctions.

1. It has the longest title of the reboot.

2. The last page is arguably dumber than the last page of Batman: The Dark Knight.

One page under the cut.
The rest of the issue was kind of bland. Mediocre, really. )
Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; also, Voodoo #1 was surprisingly good. It definitely did "sexy" better than either Catwoman #1 or Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 . . . not that that would be hard in the latter case.

Reload Image

Huntress. Known for:
  • Her short temper.
  • Being nutjob by normal civilians (and sometimes even by other superheroes).
  • Giving Gotham's criminals a faceful of boot, heel, chair, table, or whatever object comes in handy.
  • Shooting pointy things.
  • Confusing the hell out of some people on her status of being Batman's kid or not.

All character flaws and DC fuck-ups aside, she does occasionally show her softer side, especially when rescuing children. (And the D'AWWWW moments are *pricesless*).

At least there's *SOME* consistency! )

So I was reading Gail Simone's Atom run for the first time, and a specific page reminded me of an incident in a recent Flashpoint miniseries.

Look familiar?

I was going to post this a few weeks ago, when I was on my Power Girl kick, but didn't bother out of sheer sloth. It's a good story where Power Girl punches Wonder Woman in the face, but I've left that bit out to focus on other bits.

Now that it's topical, I decided I'd sort out this morning.

Take me take me to the riot )

Consistent with previous rumours that TDKR is going the Frank Miller route with Catwoman's origin:

"Catwoman is apparently one of the most well written characters we’ve seen in these movies so far and she could potentially steal the show the way Heath Ledger did last time. She does some cool stuff in the movie like jumping out of windows and stealing the Batpod. Her back story is that she has a history of abuse and works as a stripper and is also a pickpocket."

Source.

Right now I'm taking this with a grain of salt, but there's also mention that the previous image we saw of Anne's Catwoman earlier isn't the full Catwoman costume and that she will wear the cat-eared cowl later on the film.

Thoughts?
