The first page of BATMAN #26 has Young Bruce Wayne watching a Zorro movie in a theater... by himself. He is confronted by uniform officer James Gordon. The rest of the issue in the present (which is also the past) is Doctor Death fighting Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox and Gordon rescuing them. Bruce wakes in the hospital with his foot handcuffed to the bed.

So, because 2014 is a big year for Batman (Something about a milestone anniversary), DC have announced a new weekly Batman title, "Batman Eternal".

Scott Snyder will be overseeing the book, whilst a rotating team of four writers (James Tynion IV, John Layman, Ray Fawkes, and Tim Seeley) contribute stories. So far, Jason Fabok is the only confirmed artist for the title.

The cover seems like it's missing something however... )

In a world with no Justice League - in a Gotham without a Batman - hope still springs eternal.

Even if it comes from the unlikeliest of sources.

What measure is 'the good old days?' )
Oh, and Ray Fawkes co-wrote this issue! He doesn't have a tag yet, so I'll just credit him here.

Food for Thought: What are the pros and cons of DC having a theoretical Villains Year? One year of no heroes doing angsty gray-area stuff - just villain character development. If so, which villains deserve a ten-month, Black-Mirror style story arc?

In the past post I made, I presented a case where the foundation for a possible relationship between Tim Drake and Cass Cain could have been build upon,
http://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/4424927.html

In THIS post, I'll show why and how I think that them becoming a couple just prior to the reboot was a thing. And establish a narrative using what's there to make sense of the Cass Cain Brainwashing Fiasco.

Yeah, it's totally subjective, but I think that there's evidence there that makes sense.
Bad writing behind the cut )
