I thought a lot about which of my favourite characters to include in this post, but ultimately decided that "You never forget your first" and went with MY entry-level X-Man; Kitty Pryde.

I first started buying superhero comics with X-Men 131, which was in the middle of her debut story, against the newly introduced Hellfire Club. She was a gawky teenager, not particularly pretty and she was in over her head with the circumstances and was, frankly and rather refreshingly, not only brave and resourceful, but openly terrified and STILL taking risks to help people she barely new (Which I can always respect). But the X-Men Hellfire Club can be cover in more detail in other posts... if we haven't already... much check on that.

I don't know if it was a marketing gimmick for the movie, but Kitty Pryde has been having space chats with a holographic projection of Peter Quill aka Starlord from Guardians of the Galaxy. (I wonder if they call it 'Space Time' rather than Facetime?) and the two seem to be quite fond of each other...

From Excalibur Annual #2 back in 1994. This was about eight years after Cypher was killed, and about three months after Douglock was introduced in the pages of "The Phalanx Covenant", and was perhaps meant to provide a primer..

It's ladies night and girl the feeling's good

Ahem, sorry, flashbacks to the music of my youth...

Rhiannon Owens (Click to go to her DeviantArt account) is an artist whose work I've enjoyed looking at in the past, and she has been doing some amazing work on sketchcards for Marvel. The following examples I found by casually browsing through e-bay...

And also, an artist whose work is new to me, a watercolour artist who has a rather sophisticated fashion sense to boot is Kevin Wada

From Savage Wolverine #13,  the second part of a two-part story, dealing with the illegal trafficking in exotic animals, I find I'm torn, between featuring the guest appearance by visiting "Professor Ramsey" at the Jean Grey School. (Honestly, Americans will call ANYONE Professor, won't they?) and a rather diverting confrontation between Logan and Tyger Tiger as they debate the ethics of contraband.

Phil Jimenez is on art and Phil and Scott Lope (Apparently he'd be known to some as Host of Wild Animal Repo on Discovery Channel) on writing duties.
Savage is actually a pretty good adjective for this story )
