"He’s a guy, and we say this right in the issue, who loves space. He’s not tortured about being in space. He has an affection for Earth as where he grew up, it’s where half his heritage is, but he loves being Star-Lord. He loves going out into space and drinking and fighting and adventuring. But we do give him a new connection to Earth, which is his long-distance flirtation with Kitty Pryde, which Bendis introduced in “The Trial of Jean Grey.” They have these holographic phones with which they can communicate with each other. It’s kind of like intergalactic Skype. They’ve met and they have chemistry and there’s a spark there, and now they’re going to find out across thousands of light years if there’s potential for a relationship there." - Sam Humphries

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is getting a shake-up this fall with "All-New All-Different Marvel," with members leaving, members joining, and a new leader whom Brian Michael Bendis describes as having "a Napoleon Complex." In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the long-time Marvel writer talks about the title's upcoming relaunch with Valerio Schiti for "All-New All-Different Marvel" and how the team is the "underdogs of the underdogs."

"Everyone has a judgment, but whose is right? Should Jean be held accountable for things that she has not done yet? Should she be stopped before it happens again? Is a crime a crime if the person who committed the crime hasn't committed it yet?" - Brian Michael Bendis

Marvel.com: The Guardians usually find themselves on the other side of the law, yet their teaser word is "Judgment." Are they passing judgment on the X-Men or helping the teens escape judgment?

Brian Michael Bendis: Right there, that is the reason to tell the story. Everyone has a judgment, but whose is right? Should Jean be held accountable for things that she has not done yet? Should she be stopped before it happens again? Is a crime a crime if the person who committed the crime hasn't committed it yet?

I thought a lot about which of my favourite characters to include in this post, but ultimately decided that "You never forget your first" and went with MY entry-level X-Man; Kitty Pryde.

I first started buying superhero comics with X-Men 131, which was in the middle of her debut story, against the newly introduced Hellfire Club. She was a gawky teenager, not particularly pretty and she was in over her head with the circumstances and was, frankly and rather refreshingly, not only brave and resourceful, but openly terrified and STILL taking risks to help people she barely new (Which I can always respect). But the X-Men Hellfire Club can be cover in more detail in other posts... if we haven't already... much check on that.

Shadowcat - Mutant, teenager, kickass fighter, good friend and really, REALLY bad enemy to make )

I don't know if it was a marketing gimmick for the movie, but Kitty Pryde has been having space chats with a holographic projection of Peter Quill aka Starlord from Guardians of the Galaxy. (I wonder if they call it 'Space Time' rather than Facetime?) and the two seem to be quite fond of each other...
