'Ultimate Knights' marked the final hurrah for Mark Bagley on 'Ultimate Spider-Man'. He would show up for guest spots (the most notable being the 'Death of Spider-Man' storyline and 'Ultimate End' if you count that) but this was the end of his stint as regular artist. At 111 issues together Bendis and Bagley had the longest-running partnership together on a Marvel title, a record that has yet to be broken.

This is a requested follow-up of sorts to the 'Caliban and Kitty' post from yesterday as the two had another interaction I was not yet aware of. That large hulking guy on the cover? That's Caliban. It was the 90s.

So here the title crossed a fairly big milestone, it's 100th issue. While USM was far from an 'underdog' it was something that many people wrote off as a gimmick from the getgo and the idea that it would get to a 50th issue, let alone twice that, was seen as laughable in 2001. Fortunately the title not only surpassed that but Bendis and Bagley would also later go on to break the record for longest uninterrupted run by two people on a Marvel title (previously held by Stan and Jack on Fantastic Four).

And what better way to celebrate such a momentous occasion but a take on one of the most maligned stories in Spider-Man history?

UNCANNY X-MEN #600 preview. Two pages from next week's issue. Nearly all the X-Men want to talk to Hank McCoy, including his younger self.

“[I]t was bumped until after Secret Wars for editorial and commercial reasons. Not my call. This was marvel. But they have their reasons. It will not effect the story or the impact of the story. In fact it may have more impact on how things shake out after my run.” Brian Michael Bendis.
