Over in my neck of the woods, there's still a few hours of Father's Day left, so let's celebrate it with one of my favorite Bat-writers of all time: Chuck Dixon! And this obscure little character he created named... uh, what was it again? Oh yeah - Stephanie Brown.

Jokes aside, I'm one of *those* Steph fans. The kind that basically lost track of her as soon as Dixon left DC, I mean. To this day, I'm still not sure whether I like the character in and of herself, or whether I just really liked the way that Dixon could spin an engaging, at least half-decent story out of literally any concept (the guy once wrote a Robin comic that was 22 pages of not-Barney vs. not-Mr. Rogers, for crying out loud). I hope to get to the bottom of that mystery soon, by finally diving into Steph's Batgirl series, but for now, let's take a gander at Steph's debut arc.

Given how... unimpressed I've been by what I've seen of Nightwing #30 (Don't have the issue myself, but there are enough pieces of it poppping around that I've put it together), I thought that rather than complain (well, right now, I might complain later) let's do something a little more positive, so here is Fanart Thursday special!

Okay, I'm cheating a little here, but hope you'll forgive me.

Remember the announcement about "Batman Eternal"? And how Batman, and Scott Snyder to a certain extent, getting another book seemed like a little bit of overkill.

At the NYCC today, Scott Snyder confirmed that in issue 3 of "Batman Eternal", Stephanie Brown will be debuting in the New 52 under his pen (Most likely as Spoiler)

Confirmation under the cut )

For those who felt that the whole "Batman inc." was something of a sausagefest (especially after the New 52 wiped out two of it's more prominent female members), the tumlr based webcomic "Batgirl Inc." may be what you need.

This is the description from the creators

Batgirl Inc is an au Batman Family webcomic and creative initiative starring Barbara Gordon, Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown that chronicles the mysterious circumstances that bring these girls together as Batgirl Inc in order to combat a growing threat whose shadow has encroached upon Gotham. This is heroics done the Batgirl way: awesomely

Babs seems to be the primary batgirl, with Tim Drake providing Oracle-like support.

They've just completed their first issue (It's a slow release thing), but they have just started a "Summer Special" issue...

And you know what Summer Special means....

SWIMSUIT SHOTS! )

In the pantheon of comicbook characters, there are some that people can't stand even if other people seem to be big fans. In my case, there are probably three characters that I have an intense dislike of.
