The main character, Oyuki, is an assassin searching for the three men responsible for raping her mother and killing her family. (There were four men involved in the crime, but Oyuki's mother had managed to kill one of them prior to the beginning of the series. She was jailed for that crime, and gave birth to Oyuki in prison so she could carry on her mission of vengeance.) The movie adaptation served as a major inspiration for Kill Bill.<br /><br />One of my favorite scenes in the manga is a short interlude in Volume 3, when Oyuki meets an older woman and has a brief sexual encounter.
