Black Panther Sturm und Drang: T'Challa and Storm and Namor and Magneto and Doom
Jan. 17th, 2013 08:52 pmI've lately been slowly reading through Priest's Black Panther run, and yesterday I read an arc which was rather amusing given recent event. I think I saw someone mention part of it in the comments of scans_daily recently, actually, something about sort of Illuminati like gather involved Black Panther, Doom, Magneto and Namor. It also involved T'Challa flirting with Storm way before Hudlin's run. Funny stuff.
Anyway, I hope it's not overly complicated, but it's Priest's run which tends to have a bazillion things happening at the same time and also is tough to cut to 7 pages.
Black Panther v3 #26, ~7 pages
It starts with a flashback:( Read more... )
Black Panther v3 #27, 7 pages
Where international tension starts ramping out, and also the flirting:( Read more... )
Black Panther v3 #28, ~7 Pages
The one with the Illuminati-like meeting: ( Read more... )
Black Panther v3 #29, 3 pages
Mostly concluding the stuff between Namor and Black Panther: ( Read more... )

Wakandans are assholes
Aug. 26th, 2012 09:41 pmAs requested in my previous post, here's the scene from Hudlin's run on Black Panther where he reveals that Wakanda has the cure for cancer (nevermind how little sense that makes) but refuses to share it.
( Because they're assholes )
2 2/3 pages from Black Panther 3.

One country, two kings steeped in crimson, and three killer queens between 'em.
Dec. 20th, 2011 09:28 pmSo as you know, Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive's ending in February.
The current Kingpin vs. T'Challa arc wasn't intended to wrap it up- there's an interview from this year's San Diego Comic-Con where writer David Liss briefly discusses another one to consequentially follow- but the book's sales've been decreasing since its inception post-Shadowland (there was a Fear Itself bump, but only for the issue introducing the somewhat controversial American Panther), clocking in below 20,000 copies moved for the last few months.
I can understand why readers didn't buy into the Panther, especially post-Doomwar (and, of course, post-Hudlin), and I know there're titles more readily captivating. It's just that his book's getting cancelled, just as it was beginning to hit its stride, is quite an unfortunate bit of timing (but understandable; at least Fisk and T'Challa's battle is getting to conclude as intended).
( Especially since its protagonist had also done so, by throwing off some of the more awkward elements of his post-Shadowland status quo. )

Taken from Marvel Premiere #51 all the way from 1979. BP deals with angry union workers, an old foe, talks to the president, and is told a story by a past lover of his own forgotten adventures where he is tortured by white supremacists. Written by Ed Hannigan, but the original Jungle Action Parts were by Don McGregor. Thi one is a dousy.

ILLUMINATI: Personal responsibility
Jan. 20th, 2011 11:42 pmOracle once wondered if the Bat-family was culpable for the Joker's crimes since they never did anything permanent to stop him. Here's a few pages from the NEW AVENGERS: ILLUMINATI special where a similar discussion about culpability is discussed.
