Billy Batson and the Magic of SHAZAM! #20
Sep. 27th, 2010 08:41 pmI don't read the solicitations any more, too depressing, but I suspect that Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam! is coming to an end. Twists are coming thick and fast--Tawky Tawny is permanently an anthropomorphic tiger, Freddy Freeman has dropped the Black Adam Junior identity for Captain Marvel Junior, Black Adam and the wizard Shazam are both back from limbo, and all of the Marvel Family's enemies have teamed up for a battle royale, as seen on the cover here....

( But there's one spoiler that's not on the cover... )

PoS #47: The End of a Happy Marvel Family
Nov. 30th, 2009 10:29 pmThe Catwoman #82 post reminded me of the request by thokstar for final issues from the January Blackest Night one-shots. This is my first post so correct me at will. It may not be dial-up friendly - 6 pages out of 22. ;)

Woof. VENUS started out as a chipper romance comics, playing up the glamor angle with its star literally being Venus, Goddess of Love. Then it got into science-fiction and then outright horror (That second cover is by none other than Bill Everett) at the end. This happened quite a bit to titles after WW II ended and super-heroes fell away.
