The world's greatest mystics have gathered to partake in a contest to finally decide once and for all who is the true Sorcerer Supreme. Victor Von Doom barely qualifies to enter, but manages to be the only one other than the victor, Strange naturally, who does not succumb to the challenge. Doom didn't use his offensive or defensive sciences during the contest but did use computer scanning to learn much about magic that he did not know before.

After Strange is declared Sorcerer Supreme there is one other consequence of the tournament to attend to.

I really wanted to post this page when the issue came out but I figured it would be posted in the main one. It hasn't, so here it is.

Nikoleta Harrow's story largely was Marvel Knights: Hulk.

(That wasn't a bad thing; the Hulk's suited to playing a reactive role.)

The four-issue Joe Keatinge/Piotr Kowalski mini opened with Bruce Banner face down in the Seine. A lady pulled him out and took him home to her uncle's spare apartment. The next day, she took him to a bar for a drink.

There, two men on his trail confronted him. Amnesiac, he fled; determined, they followed.

On their boss's orders, they injected themselves with a green serum that transformed them into towering Hulks. They pursued Banner through the streets and the Metro, catching his subway car and hurling it into the Louvre.

Then they exploded.

Bruce, the only survivor, was taken into the police's custody.

Then he was explosively abducted by Nikoleta Harrow, who took him off to her base in Pripyat and tried to make him turn into the Hulk she needed.

Her efforts failed. )

This was a really hard choice I was remembering how many great Else Worlds there where in the crop of annuals from '94, and I already posted my favourite What If to use for favourite male character... This one ranks a little bit lower for me but it's still a neat concept.

The Beyonder and Galactus kill each other and Reed Richards in the final battle of the Secret Wars leaving the heroes trapped on that strange world. 25 years later there is peace, and a new generation of super powered youngsters.

It's hard for me to pick just woman as an all time favourite, but men, that's easy (at least in the realm of superheroes) it can be non other than Victor Von Doom... Yes Zechs already did a Doom post, but I'd like to share a What If that combined my two favourite Doom stories, his origin/first appearance and his attempt to free his mother's soul from the netherworld. And really can you have too much Doom?

Remember kids: when a limo with diplomatic plates offers you a lift in New York City -- DON'T GET IN. It's a creepy super-villain who just wants to use you for your body.

scans from The Incredible Hulk 143 )

PS: These scans came from The Incredible Hulk DVD-Rom Collection from 2007. I mention this because: 1) Marvel deserves a shout-out for authorizing such a fantastic product (although unfortunately I think it may be out of print), and 2) If there is anything specific you'd like to see I've probably got it on here; feel free to leave a request in this post.
