Four pages from Teen Titans #18 here, in which as with last issue we still have lots of plot threads, but they're moving closer to converging.

We're the only ones who can save each other. )

BTW, it's a little hard to count pages on this thing since they're still double-page spread happy and the pages aren't labeled, but it's Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira on art pages 1-16 and Rodney Buchemi on pages 17-20. By my count that's the last two pages of the Two Teams Fight scenes and the two Times Square pages.

I miss Helena Bertinelli as the Huntress. I know a lot of the "member of the Bat-family that doesn't quite fit in and has issues" slot has been filled by Jason Todd in the Nu52. I just miss her.

(Well, it's still Thursday in the westernmost parts of North America, for a little while.)

These images are pretty big, which I guess is a reason to give them their own post instead of putting them in a comment on espanolbot's thread.

Some fun with DC characters:

Joker, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman by nebezial )

This week I found these re-conceptualizations of Wonder Woman and Superman:

Ah, Arkham Asylum. Hospital for the mentally ill, prison for supervillains and the most mainstream HP Lovecraft reference in comicbooks! Now, when people talk about Arkham, it's normally connected in some manner with how Batman is "incompetant" in some way for not stopping the Joker, Killer Croc and company from routinely escaping from the alleged SuperMax facility whenever the mood strikes them.

Well today I've decided to have a look at the numerous ways that, really, it's really the Arkham members of staff who are at fault here, not just Batman not having the time to physically watch his rogues 24/7 to ensure they don't go walk about. Plus Halloween is coming up, and this is kind of good subject matter for the season.

Let's begin!

I went to this weekend's local comic book sales convention, Springcon (held in the State Fair grandstand) and had a good time. I picked up several books and items with the purpose of creating a raffle basket for my company's United Way drive, plus some stuff for myself. (Sadly the Three Caballeros poster signed for me by Don Rosa is too big to scan.)

In the cheap bins, though, I found something that many of our younger members may be unfamiliar with.

Sad Sack, short for the military term "sad sack of shit", was created by George Baker as a pantomime comic strip during World War Two. It was quite popular, and eventually Mr. Baker licensed the property to Harvey Comics, which ran comic books based on it for decades. It did very well for Harvey, as evidenced by the franchise supporting a half-dozen titles a month.

Sadly, by 1976, when this issue of "Sad Sack and the Sarge" #117 was printed, George Baker had passed away, so only that little bit in the upper left corner of the cover is his artwork.

A couple of inside glimpses, and some unrelated pieces picked up at the convention, behind the cut.
