And now to contrast Barbara Gordon's fight with Gretel, how about 4 pages of Helena Wayne's own personal brand of justice against the Chairman of Kufra himself?

Aside from some cliche dialogue and some blantant misogyny, this was actually a pretty good issue. In fact it was shit tonnes better than the last three issues, which makes me wonder why this mini didn't pick up pace sooner.

As for Helena Wayne's characterisation in this issue...let's just say this issue will either make or break the deal for any pre-existing Huntress fans. I don't think I need to clarify my position on this comm since this is *me* we're talking about, but I will say that this definitely has me excited for the series' conclusion next month, and even moreso with Power Girl making an appearance.

Looks like this issue will be tonnes better than the last, and Helena sheds more light on her upbringing.

I’m led to believe now, Earth-2 Batman was just like his original Golden Age version, who used to kill people. I also think she’s being more Selina-like in her approach to fighting crime. Maybe Earth-2 Selina was the post-Crisis Selina? I’m starting to increasingly believe this is *very* likely.

Paul Levitz gave another interview for Worlds Finest on CBR today, and let me just say I think they may have given me something to actually be upset about. It's enough to say, icon says all. And yes, that is saying a bloody lot.

Of course, one of the only other worse things that can happen to a superhero besides being captured by the bad guy, is when said bad guy happens to be your own nephew trying to get a hold of the family fortune!

Throw in some chains, some electrical shocks, some family drama and you've got... )
Power Girl [smile]:

In addition to the Newsrama interview where Levitz let the cat out of the bag early (excuse the pun) and shed new light on the premise for the upcoming Worlds' Finest series, Levitz also tells fans to 'keep in mind these are not the same Huntress and Power Girl as we knew them.'

Greetings ladies and gents! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend with your friends and families. I certainly did!

But now, more info on DC's plans for their relaunch in 2012. From what I read on their blog, it looks like we can look forward to more changes as their newer universe starts to evolve. And of course, I'm sure you're all well aware of which one *I'm* especially looking forward to. ^_^

Heh, so much for a 'soft reboot,' but still excited nonetheless )

So Helena Wayne asks: "What do you give the man who has almost everything?" A very legit question considering Bruce Wayne is very much the 'Prince of Gotham.' An abundance of wealth, a mansion, an expensive penthouse, fancy cars, cool gadgets, lots of dates with sexy women both inside and outside of the Justice League, etc. All in all, the guy has it all very much handed to him on a silver platter. Should the man ever decide to marry (which he did in another lifetime), he'd fall nothing short of having a Royal Wedding of his very own.

But Helena does make one thing of note: he is a man who has almost everything. So now the question becomes "what doesn't he have?" Well family for one, and a reminder that there is still love in the world for two. Possibly *three* if she wasn't already related to him in some weird way, though I'm sure plenty have thought it (the pervs)…

Anyway, in stark contrast with the previous story I posted where Batman spends his holidays playing cat and mouse with a known foe (although there is a little of that too), this story focuses on the most important message of Christmas of all: love and family. Two things Helena Wayne is good at demonstrating to a man who has *almost* everything! ;)

Lo and behold! My favourite Bat Christmas story ever told in all of its Slashy Glory! :D )

On a completely unrelated note, The Dark Knight Rises official trailer is finally up and legal! :D

So do you remember Helena's team-up with Catwoman in the post-Crisis continuity, where Selina basically left the security dogs to chase after Helena so she could focus on bypassing a complex security system? Well, I think Helena finally found a solution to that problem in Huntress #3!

And damn, there were so many good scenes in this issue, 4 pages doesn't even begin to do it justice. On the bright side though, I think Levitz finally dropped our first "official hint" on Helena in this issue. I promise it's a very *subtle* one. I think. Maybe.

Anyway, moving on...

4 pages of SQUEE! for your viewing pleasure! 8D )

It's pretty common knowledge amongst DC fans that it really doesn't take much to hit Helena Bertinelli's berserk button. Just threaten the safety of innocents or anyone she cares about and she'll have you dangling over the edge of a building after a good beating.

But what about Helena Wayne? As professional and as level-headed as she tends to be, she herself isn't without a berserk button of her own. Like Bertinelli, Wayne also values the people he does have in her life, and probably even moreso since she hates losing the people she loves to senseless criminal activity. But it's one thing for criminals to come after her already capable parents, and another to deliberately kill the people in her life just to get back at her for beating your arse. Herein lies her berserk button, where even she'll consider "breaking her one rule" to get her point across. Observe!

WARNING: The first few pages contain some mildly sadistic themes and sexual undertones. Potentially NSFW!

Icon totally appropriate for this post... )

So. Comicbook Resources recently interviewed Eric Wallace, and unsurprisingly, Peege is one of the questions that came up.

And because DC apparently has a strict no-spoilers rule in place (though admittedly they themselves aren't too good about that), Wallace could only reveal so much, but it's enough to get my Spidey senses tingling.

I can't tell you how badly I wanted this to be a busy day at work just to make the hours go faster, but nevertheless I managed to get home with this little jewel in hand. ^_^

Sadly it was a bloody long wait for issue #2 and it didn't turn out quite as exciting as I thought it would be--especially after the last issue--but given the slow pace, it still had it's moments.

Like Helena liking her Italian cookies with her cases! )

If there's an award out there for most epic stalking fail by a Gotham City cop in pre-Crisis DCU, this copper right here steals the entire trophy room. He also gets bonus points for having a pornstache and being motivated by his schoolboy crush WUV♥.

Hey Baby! I've been stalking you this whole time, but I've got good news! I know you're not guilty. So do I get a kissy kiss? )

-Le Sigh- I wish I had enough icon space for my 'Harleen Quinzel does not approve' icon on LJ, so face-palming Harley will have to do. :(

Not sure how this works if you've already posted two pages from the preview, so just to be on the safe side, I'll just post two pages from the Huntress book that wreaked of all shades of awesome. ♥

At least we have one heroine in the DCU waging a personal war against the sexploitation of women )
