From the 2007 Free Comic Book Day issue of LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES IN THE 31ST CENTURY:

Comparing Clark Kent to Rick Santorum or Matthew Perry sounds odd, but there you go.

2 1/2 pages from Brave & Bold #34, which teams up the Legion of Super-Heroes circa the old Adventure Comics days with the original Doom Patrol, for part 1 of a 2-part story. I just wanna know how much icon_uk had to pay the creative team here to get such a fanservice-y opening to our tale...

It's a fashion thing. )

jelly_ace asked for a reprise of Package Week. I had been thinking about that ever since we saw those peen-tastic Cry For Justice pages the other week, and offered to repost my original Package Week entry, since I've still got it all in my photobucket - and it turns out, the text in my inbox full of old replies. :D

Direct from November 2008, my Package Week entry! )

Whilst digging through a folder of images which I haven't looked at in years, I was delighted to find these which I located years ago, but haven't been able to find since.

Back in 2001 Steve Lightle did some sketches for a proposed animated version of the Legion of Superheroes which never got off the ground (It would be another 5 years before a Legion cartoon series actually hit the airwaves, and would be quite different from this)

Bear in mind these are sketches, not finished designs. You can see the aim was to significantly reduce the average age of the Legionnaires, whilst the bad guys tended to look the way they always had.

"Aren't we a little young to be facing this much peril?" )

"EMERALD EYE!!! I Choose you!!" )

Crowd scenes for EVERYONE! )

Waaay back in 2006, when the Legion of Super Heroes cartoon first aired, an s_d 1.0 member thought that Bouncing Boy would be the Legionnaire who'd be subtext-y for Supes.

Then the episode "Legacy" happened. Hindsight, as they say, is 20/20.

'Training purposes,' dammit! ) ETA: Goddammit Photobucket just reduced their bandwidth limit from 25 GB to 10 GB. Yet they still sent me an email saying I'd exceeded the "25 GB" limit...

In the final months of the threeboot book the Legion was joined by the young M'rissy. At the time I thought it was obviously how Shooter saw himself in his early years writing the Legion but went on to discover the name M'rissy is actually referring to a fan of the Legion who had since died, Rich Morrissey. (His writings about Coluan Lifespans, from the Legion Fanzine 'legion outpost' is available in 'the best of the Legion outpost' on amazon)

Two issues that aren't in the collections of 'The Lightning Saga' or 'Superman and the Legion of Super-heroes'. So here are the legion events to connect the dots and give some clues as to what happens in LO3W.

It's hard to pin down a defining moment out of a relatively small pool of, well, moments, good or bad. The Legion cartoon and its comics were both cancelled after just two years, after all.
