The FF as we have come to know them have come and gone, as this wraps up the last issue of the group and of the team as we know them, with a special emphasis on Franklin Richards, arguably the most powerful mortal in the 616. Older Franklin is teaching current Franklin the ins and outs of godhood, and making "one last tour of the field", as Future Franklin must leave.

The issue has a lot of stand out moments with Marvel-ous moments of mirth and wonder, but the true core of the Fantastic Four is, and always has been, why Reed Richards, Susan Richards, Johnny Storm and Benjamin Grimm and the people they love are the First Family of the Marvel Universe.

This DOOR... is more than it appears to be. )

Not a lot of people were reading the FF's book back in 2002, or if they were, they weren't talking much about it. The entire line was just coming off the doldrums of the nineties, and while there were a few good solid superhero books coming out around then - like the underrated Nicienza run on Thunderbolts - it was a quiet time at Marvel.

Which is a shame, because in the middle of this dead zone, you get one of the single greatest moments for Dr. Doom ever.

In the last issue of Fantastic Four, Reed and family seized the Wizard from A.I.M.'s new nation-state, and brought him into custody. Bentley 23, the clone of the Wizard, apparently wanted to see him. He approached him with a box containing his helmet, stating that the children of the Foundation thought it best for him to have a personal identifier. He's quite mad, you see.

The Wizard told Bentley to put it on himself.

Hey guys. Its my first post here, and I'm glad to join this site. This site really helped me find a lot of awesome books to collect and read as well as being, alongside Linkara's videos and my growing dislike towards the fairly misogynistic actions of Joe Quesada and Dan DiDio, one of the major causes of my growth into a full fledged feminist (though I still think there should be a universal term to describe being against all forms of discrimination and for all around equal rights). Had it not been for this site, I wouldn't of gotten Hawkeye's first issue or bought Stephanie Brown's Batgirl trades, the former now being the only thing on my pull list thanks to this AvX nonsense (though the Marvel Now books are going to be added, and I'm thinking of adding Agent Venom to that) while the latter being what got me into collecting Bat Books, and books from the larger DCU. Still to get anything from the DCnU though, but I've preordered Court of Owls TPB and depending on if I like it 'll see about collecting Batman and Nightwing. Kinda wish Tim had his own series right now though because I can't find any of his trades anywhere.

Anyhow, unrelated to that, Spider-Man's 50th anniversary has came and gone, and unfortunately I was still waiting to join before then, but I wanted to post some scans. Someone else already did this, but mostly focused on Alpha. As I developed mixed feelings for him (his annoying, irritating, and unneeded, but he got some amusing moments), I'm going to focus on the rest of the book. So, here's a handful of scans from Amazing Spider-Man #692. There's 58 pages in the comic including the backup stories, but since they're not connected I'll only post four pages.

So, after being introduced to Andrew Maguire where he's shown as being just like Peter when he was a kid (minus the science nerd thing and caring parental figures), we cut to Peter's science demonstration where, apparently, he thought it would be a wonderful idea to harness cosmic energy, Dock Ock in Spider-Man 2 style. Only for things to fail. Badly.

Continuing the important theme about family today (in my posts).

With the future Franklin (master of Galactus) and Valeria Richards in the present, Reed decides to do some "intimate examination" on his own.

You are my greatest adventure. )

To be precise, it's the PSA where he'd already learned that.

His education in the matter's the stuff of a cautionary tale, related to a guy named Joe who has a kid named Ray he could be spending more time with. Spider-Man, who'd found the latter graffiting in the dead of night, had brought the former to Four Freedoms Plaza in hopes that Mister Fantastic could get him to see sense.

Spidey's own efforts to that end, perhaps fueled by a discussion with his wife about the possibility of their trying for another child (surprising use of continuity in something like this, isn't it?), hadn't been enough. He'd told Joe the barfly that " Immaturity is the one foe even I can't fight! ", knowing that what could was wisdom in the matter.

So he'd asked Reed (because who else could Spider-Man the superhero ask?) to talk to Joe about how important a father was to a son.

He agreed to, perhaps because of how he'd learnt that lesson- being forced to confront a megalomanical might-yet-be of his own son could certainly've made him want to help those who'd never have the chance to receive the kind of wake-up call he did. )

These past months, it's been a long and tiresome wait. Until finally, on the final stretch, things start looking as they did when I would post the comic proudly. But the comic's about to be canceled, so no dice, not really.

Two scans from Daken 21, one scan from Deadpool 50 )

Huh. I'm kind of surprised no one's posted this yet. I know someone posted the preview page, but here's what's going on around the view in the sky. This was the second best moment in the book. But since I'm out of pages since this is the latest issue, go and pick it up. It's so worth it. Especially when you see Cap's face when he realizes the scope of what just happened. In any case, I picked the personal moment, because I've been waiting for this moment ever since the book went to its FF status. And it was worth the wait.

You think Ben's back to his old self? )
