I wish I had more time to make a post which best illustrates just why Mega Man is a great comic book to get into, and hopefully this post will at least serve as an impetus for that. If nothing else, I included what tags I could to make looking for previous posts easier.

But the main thing is to spread word that ComiXology is having a line-wide sale on Archie comics, of which Mega Man is one, and between the 50% discount and the already-low price of $1.99 USD per issue, you can basically get the entire run for $55. Less, if you decide to trim the Sonic crossover stuff out (incidentally, the Sonic stuff is on sale, too, and worth reading).

The trades have stalled following the hiatus, leaving that option for reading the series in doubt, so that makes this the best way to get caught up. And hey, maybe buying these will show enough support that Archie decides to take the book off "hiatus."

You can find further details here.

Do note that the single issues are the better value over the trades which are available, unless you really like variant covers (which can be found online anyway) and bonus content.

So all the talk as of late about The Killing Joke reminded me of something. Specifically, I've seen the whole "one bad day" talk elsewhere, perhaps as a sort of homage or tribute? But not in anything as dark or grim as the source material...

Back in the early 90s, Sega gave the world Sonic the Hedgehog. And all was right with the world.

Now, I'm a huge Sonic fan. Along with the Ninja Turtles, Star Wars & Spider-Man, you have the four franchises which basically shaped the tastes I would develop as an adult. And back in the mid-90s, there was a Sonic comic that began publication by Archie, simply entitled Sonic the Hedgehog and basically following the same canon as the cartoon nicknamed "SatAM" by fans.

I am not talking about that comic.

No, being that I am English, I am in fact talking about Fleetway's Sonic the Comic. A completely different entity & canon to Archie's comic, STC was more of an anthology book - It featured at least one Sonic comic an issue, and originally featured three other comics based off games available on the Mega Drive - Such as Decap Attack, Streets of Rage, Shinobi & Kid Chameleon - but eventually, as the world that was being built in the Sonic stories grew, the non-Sonic stories shrunk down to just one an issue, and eventually just became a Decap Attack strip. Hilariously, the comic did sky pirates long before Sega released Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast.

But anyway, back to my point.

To steal a line... TIME FOR BACKSTORY! )

Considering it's the 10th Anniversary, I figured this would be a good juncture to post some scans from the first comic series I ever read, Sonic The Comic. And what would be more fitting than the hundredth issue of the series? I guess the tenth, but... 100 is more celebratory.

With DC's Blackest Night bringing back DEAD fan favorite characters as heart hungry zombies, I decided, to make a post of from a recent issue of Sonic Universe (recent to me since I just bought it from the bookstore) which they bring back a character as a monster. Who is it? Click and see.

From Sonic the Hedgehog 203, I've posted one of the under used characters from the comic based on the video game. His name is Monkey Khan, hailing from the Asian reign of Mobius, and is a figure based on Goku from Journey to the West.  And even though the Monkey has appeared in a few issues since his long absence in the series, I like him already.

Here is  something for . If you remember back a few years ago, you remember the let down of the Shadow the Hedgehog game was. It was suppose to give Shadow's origins, but failed to do so and gave repetitive endings that lead to nowhere. But thankful, Archie Comics gave Shadow a bad-@$$ story in "Sonic the Hedgehog #171" called "I Am." Written by Ian Flynn and art by Tracy Yardley. This defines Shadow to what he is.

I hope I get this right, working the edits of InsaneJournal is.. insane.

While the Second issue of Sonic Universe comes out today, I'm going to post two of the funnest pages on here. The reason why this is SO late is because I'm having problems with this site and how it works. Not sure how to work the tags or even make the cuts.
