That it is, according to current DC lroe, the birthday of one Richard John Grayson, who is perhaps better known by at least a few other names; Robin, Nightwing, Batman, Agent 37, Hunk Wonder, Acrobatic Ace, Boy Hostage

Since he first appeared in 1940, that means that, for a man of 76, he's looking pretty spry IMHO.

And in this blast from the past well 1970's Detective Comics 402, with art by Gil Kane and Vince Colletta (no less) we see young Mr Grayson, during his now erased college days, ponder anew what it means to be Robin as he considers;

"Now, are the first six issues about Roy trying to convince Jason it is time to go "legit?" To print up some business cards and start using their special set of skills to help people instead of necessarily killing the bad guys unfortunate enough to cross their paths? Does every new story work as a building block to the next? Absolutely. Guilty!

But month-to-month, for the readers that like to be surprised by the adventure and the tone and the focus from issue to issue... Red Hood/Arsenal is our book!

"In a way, Jason and Roy are the best thing that ever happened to one another — even if they can't always admit it to each other.

Before they met, Jason was a violent, angry vigilante with only revenge on his mind. Roy was a directionless action junkie who took ridiculous self-destructive risks. When they finally wound up in each others orbit something pretty spectacular happened to both guys.

"Each new threat opens up a whole new "world" to the series that can be explored.

The audience's attitudes towards certain subjects change as time progresses, so what might seem harmless or even amusing to a past audience comes across as offensive or even creepy by one of today! So, I thought that I'd gather up a few for your perusal.*

*Note: This isn't meant to make light of what they're doing or who they're doing it to, but rather pointing out how unpleasant and strange it is that SUPERHEROES are the ones doing it.

My first commissioned art by the talented Mitch Ballard!

I wanted a fun & sexy piece featuring my favorite Titan couples from the New Teen Titans era. Preferably with them half naked:) the guys would be shirtless while the girls wear their shirts. Mitch came up with the wonderful concept of them doing laundry. He even added Gar & Vic!

As may, or may not, be known, the planned issue of Nightwing #30 by Kyle Higgins and with guest art by Meghan Hetrick was set aside to make way for the King and Seeley Nightwing #30 that came out last week, and despite having Bruce and Dick half naked for much of the time... did not exactly set the fanbase aglow with positivity.

Meghan has now posted all the approved, though unlettered, art pages, and has put them up for sale, so we can see what the original issue would have looked like

And it would have looked bloody spectacular! )
