Introducing a new series: Avengers Origins
Nov. 1st, 2011 07:03 pmAt SDCC this year, Marvel announced the release of a five-issue series of one-shots - 40 pages of "all-new material/no reprints" (according to the solicits) at $3.99 - focusing on what "some of the most popular Avengers think about what it takes to be a member of the legendary team" (from the marvel.com article linked at the bottom of this).
They are:
- Ant-Man & the Wasp, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with interior art by Stéphanie Hans (out Nov. 2 - tomorrow!)
- Vision, written by Kyle Higgins and Alec Siegel with interior art by Stephane Perger (Nov. 9)
- Luke Cage, written by Adam Glass and Mike Benson with interior art by Dalibor Talajic (Nov. 16)
- Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver, written by Sean McKeever with interior art by Mirco Pierfederici (Nov. 23)
- Thor, written by Kathryn Immonen with interior art by Al Barrionuevo (Nov. 30)
( Covers, solicits, and all sorts of previews (only from the first four, sorry) ahoy! )
More info is available from a marvel.com article in which each writer/writing team explains briefly what their goals are for their issue and a Newsarama interview with all writers except Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

A madman blows up the earth and its up to Ironman to save the day in Ironage, some classic avengers
Jul. 27th, 2011 10:59 pmOkay this is seven pages from Ironman Alpha and 14(this sucker is giant sized)from Iron Age one so this will be a good one.
I am mainly posting the first part to give some context to the 14 pages of Iron Age 1 though you get to see luke cage and danny rand, but both books are great reads. Tony goes back in time and in ironage one he goes to classic bronze age avengers where he meets his younger self, almost beats the crap out of his own friends, sees the wasp alive again, nearly gets raped(mentally) by Eros of Titan, battles ultron, and more importantly givess hope to a friend who needs it the most.
I really enjoyed this story when it came out(4.99 I better enjoy it),but my store never got any copies of the second issue. This book has felt like a dream come true for us ironman fans who you know miss seeing ironman in the spotlight dealing with grand scale stuff(not that I have not been enjoying Fractions run, but its good to get shellhead in the obscure adventure where he kicks ass now and again).

This one was a long one and the art by Weeks makes it even more awesome. Also seriously who thought Eros of titan was a good idea.

A page from AVENGERS #6, as well as a couple of commissions with Ultron playing the part of Yorick. And no, not in that adaptation of Y: THE LAST MAN we're all waiting for.
( Alas poor Ultron. Sort of. Not really. )

A Very Magneto Family Reunion
Mar. 6th, 2010 06:56 pmFirst post on the new community and what do I put up? A fan comic. Guess I'm a bad contributer. But, hey, it is about one of the Marvel's universe's favorite horribly over-complicated mutant families!

Jonathan Hickman's Interdimensional House of Richards' made me remember Steve Englehart's Big Town, a 4-issue 2001 series set a nebulous ten years after the coming of the Fantastic Four, which asks a question:
" What if Reed Richards Wasn't Useless? How would the world change? And who wouldn't like it? "
(may not like the amount of scans under cut, just a note...)
( The answer is here... )

I love Avengers: Fairy Tales in so many ways, but by far, my favorite thing about the miniseries is Claire Wendling's gorgeous art on the covers.
ETA: Added four assorted pages from the Peter Pan story, because it had my favorite of the art styles.

A conversation in another entry reminded me of the time THIS happened.
One of the many badass moments of Ann Nocenti's underrated DD run.

Guys, I really hate the awkward InsaneJournal posting format, and although I can finally insert images I can't control the size, so I'm putting this issue up at my journal. This is a repost basically straight from the archive.
It's a complete story, but there are three stories in the Holiday special, over a hundred pages. They're all pure fluff, and this one is the best.
