So, over in the Flashpoint #5 final pages post a mini-discussion of comicbook moms broke out in the comments. Talk naturally turned to the awesomeness of the Reyes clan and Jaime's mom Bianca Reyes in particular. Oh, the usual suspects were trotted out - "Is. That. A giant. Green. FIST?", "*sniffle* Kick their asses." - and I mentioned that time Bianca took down superpowered thugs with an MRI machine. Response? SCANS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
( Oh, it HAPPENED, all right. )
Hope you survive the reboot, Bianca! Stay awesome!

Sturges on his Power Girl Two-Issue Arc
May. 11th, 2011 08:21 amSo, Matt Sturges is going to write two issues of Power Girl. Now, I am so happy Winick is off the book, even temporarily, but his comments on the nature of the arc seem to worry me.
Read for yourself.
So, what do you guys think?

Whatever happened to the prisoners of the Golden Boughs? (Or, more accurately, "What will happen to them?" seeing as how the book is set in the future these days.)

The nature of his series's plotting and its length meant that Jaime Reyes never got much in the way of foes that weren't either tied to the Reach and their machinations, the presence of La Dama, or just existing villains dropping by for one reason or another.
Not that that was a bad thing, though- the Reach had an interesting modus operandi, as did the KDRA and the Black Beetle. La Dama always added an interesting wrinkle whenever she figured into the plot, and the Beetle's battles with free agents like Typhoon or Eclipso made for fun one-off tales.
Still, he didn't really have a distinct villain that didn't come from the Reach (I guess you could count the Hellhounds, but they're idiots with branding issues now, which is more fun) or wasn't La Dama's unique situation until Doctor Polaris showed up.
( Yeah, he was a legacy, an expansion on a throwaway line and character from Meltzer's JLA, but he was still a pretty good arc villain. )

No more Fables crossovers?
Jul. 28th, 2010 03:17 am
At Comic-Con's Fables panel, when asked if there would be any more crossovers between FABLES and JACK OF FABLES in the future, Willingham and Sturges' answer was a firm no. They said upcoming issues of JACK would make it obvious why.
Now the latest issue (#46) is out, and it looks like this is what they were talking about. What happens this issue doesn't make future crossovers *impossible*, but it certainly makes it very difficult to ever do another one.
