That it is, according to current DC lroe, the birthday of one Richard John Grayson, who is perhaps better known by at least a few other names; Robin, Nightwing, Batman, Agent 37, Hunk Wonder, Acrobatic Ace, Boy Hostage

Since he first appeared in 1940, that means that, for a man of 76, he's looking pretty spry IMHO.

And in this blast from the past well 1970's Detective Comics 402, with art by Gil Kane and Vince Colletta (no less) we see young Mr Grayson, during his now erased college days, ponder anew what it means to be Robin as he considers;

Hank Pym's Doctor Nemesis (who you're thinking of was in Argentina at the time) was one, scheming along lines that only profited him.

He was a scientist kind of villain, but not one to build legions of robot assistants or sprawling laboratory complexes from which he birthed things with cool names.

No, his lair was literally a trailer. Nix on allies as well, unless you count the events of 1973's Marvel Feature #9.. )

[personal profile] halloweenjack asked about the early black and white story featuring Bobbi Morse in her pre-Mockingbird days. She'd already appeared in a couple of issues of Astonishing Tales by the time this was printed.

This story was in Marvel Super Action #1 and reprinted in the recent Avengers: Hawkeye hardcover collection. Bobbi Morse was known as the Huntress here. The artwork and format reminds me of those British black & white magazines I've seen.

According to the title page the story was written by Mike Friedrich and art by George Evans.

The story is 20 pages, so I've included the first five pages or so.
