1 page + 1 panel from JLI Annual 1.

The setup: Booster Gold has lured the remaining JLI'ers and a couple prospective new members to the Hall of Justice by claiming the members of the main League will be there. Blue Beetle comes, but isn't interested in Booster's plans for the JLI; he's looking to meet Superman, Wonder Woman or at least Cyborg, for help in removing the scarab from his spine.

Booster promises him OMAC's help instead.

Yeah. How's that working out, Jaime? )

Well, crud.

An article, and some pretty new art from "The Fury of Firestorm, the Nuclear Men" is up at Newsarama, as the new writing team of Tony Harris and Ethan Van Sciver take over creative duties from the departing Gail Simone. It's well worth a read.

One of the more interesting ideas from this series is that the Firestorm Protocols are a genuinely international setup, much like the nuclear arms race, with countries developing their own Firestorm derived agents (Not sure if "heroes" is always going to be the appropriate term).

Has it been already a week since last time? Anyway, here's some more Heroes! comic strips for you all!
My very first attempt to Heroes-ify Booster Gold. Yeah, it was that bland...

Today I offer you not two, but three more episodes of Archers! and one Superbuddies! - which features my favorite beloved but sadly underrated couple of the whole DCU. And yes, they're both alive in here :P

Ollie will one day get his revenge, Sparta Meme, Sue's pregnant again and Teen Titans cameo after the jump! )

The Bloodlines have ended. The heroes of the DCU are now finally able to assemble against the Parasite threat, but will it be enough? Or will it be the fall of Earth?

18 pages of a 56 page story.

I have to also warn you that while the art of the Annuals each had specific teams who were used to the books they were on...  but the artists who worked on Bloodbath varied, and the art seemed very rushed at times. (Including having a page that I won't post with Martian Manhunter on it that hurts my eyes)

And you thought the Parasites were bad? )

Greetings, JLI/JLE fans! I bring you three pages from the just released JLGL 23.

You may recall last issue, Jaime revealed the ultimate object of Max's plan was to kill Wonder Woman. So Bat!Bruce and the gang tracked Nu!Diana down, only to be set upon by Max's OMAC army.

This ish: the OMACs open a teleportation portal which carries Nu!Di and the gang, minus Atom, Peej and Bats, to what appears to be Los Angeles. Max and Ivo are in a...flying rook? craft above, and they launch something toward the gang.

Incoming! )

On another note, I must say Nu!Diana looks gorgeous in this issue.

I know it's like overkill for me to be making three posts on the same day, but I have a holiday with plenty of time on my hands and am mostly spending it reading comics, and have a lot of things I've been bursting to share here for weeks.

Lately I've been hunting down issues of the old Martian Manhunter comic. I regard it as one of DC's most underrated series. There are some unexpected gems there. One particularly enjoyable issue is #24 by Ostrander and Mahnke, where Booster Gold and Blue Beetle steal J'onn's cookies. Some scans of this story have already been posted on scans daily before(Just click the Title: martian manhunter tag below, it's the post below this one in the list).

It turns out there's still more hilarity to be found in that issue, after J'onn returns to normal.

I love love love pre-megalomadman, Superbuddies-era Max Lord and Sue Dibny together. Let me show you why!

I'd expect this sort of thing from your husband, but not from you! )

So there you have it, my never-gonna-happen fantasy OTP. Then DC hadda go ruin everything by making Max all Evil!Psycho!Villain!, and we won't even discuss what they did to Sue *shudder* But ah well, we'll always have Superbuddies!

If you watch Fringe, you might have caught sight, in the last episode, of some alternate-universe versions of some iconic DC comics covers. If you missed it, or don't watch Fringe, worry not...DC put them up on the DCU blog.

For legality and comparison, the original covers. )

The Source has Brightest Day solicitations for June. (Warning: the Brightest Day cover looks like it is a spoiler for Blackest Night.)

One cover for Generation Lost I'm sure will get people talking under the cut )
