Four pages from Legion #19, out today. Except for a brief check-in with the crash-landed team, almost the entire issue is Mon-El going toe-to-toe with the Emerald Empress on Weber's World.

Mods, there's no tag yet for the second artist on this ish, Jeff Johnson, can we get one or are we totally maxed out now? He did about half the ish (as you see from the credits on the first posted page) and I hate to just ignore him.

3 pages from LOSH #16, a filler issue in which we hang out, elect a new Legion leader, and move the last pieces into place for the return of the Fatal Five.

Love that teaser for next ish, because "Witch in a Time Storm" means either Glorith or Mysa will be turning up. Either would be dandy by me!

Hi ho! it's time once again for perletwo to bring you some new Legion Lost and to speak of herself in the third person for no good reason. Not a bad issue, #13 - some dangling plot threads begin to weave together at last.

You may recall, when last we left our Losties in #12, they had just evaded the military black ops metahuman hit squad out to capture them, courtesy of Gates, who told them they were headed for Krygyzistan. The hit squad, meanwhile, had gained an appreciation for the Legion via a telepathic time-share with the 30th-century bad guy Alastor, now an energy being.

But orders is orders, so the Losties are now Gates'ing from city to city to throw the hit squad off their trail. They've taken refuge in an abandoned amusement park when suddenly Tellus cries out in agony, as if millions of voices cried out in terror...and then...were silenced. Wildfire takes off into the black to investigate, rudely blowing off Dawnstar's offer of help. Unfortunately he finds something the cover lines describe thusly:



Back planetside, Yera again makes her pitch for going after Harvest, the big bad of the godawful The Culling crossover event. Tyroc points out there are no historical records of a 31st-century criminal operating in the 21st century or heading an organization like N.O.W.H.E.R.E. "What do you know that we don't?"

( Yera holds her tongue, but cues up the flashbacks. )

"Next issue: SUPERBOY...the RAVAGERS...and HARVEST join the fray!!!" Which I guess means we'll be treated to another big multifaction donnybrook issue that kills any narrative momentum we've picked up. *sigh*

So as you'll recall, Brainiac 5 and Dream Girl have been kidnapped by the Dominators. Everybody and their brother knows it's the Dominators. But thanks to POLITICS!!! the Legion has been forbidden to rescue them unless they present proof to the Council that it's the Dominators.

Still bickering, Cosmic Boy suggests Mon-El try magic - either via Glorith (remember her?) or a call to the Black Witch (remember her?). He declines, but it does remind him someone else still exists. So back to the Council they go...

( Reasonable doubt? You be the judge. )

So basically they're just staking it all on that character's clout? Okaaaay.

Four pages from Legion of Super-Heroes #11. The basic situation, you'll recall: the Dominators have kidnapped Brainiac 5 and Dream Girl, and the politicos have forbidden the Legion from taking any action.

I'll let Cosmic Boy and Mon-El fill you in on the specifics, here.

But wait! Remember that prophecy Dream Girl laid on us last issue, that help was coming, but they would be betrayed?

( Whyyyyyyyyyyy?? )

What's going on there? I've no clue, but I'm happy as long as it winds up eighty-sixing that particular character. Never, ever liked 'em.

LOSH #10 is just out, and it's setting up for the next big story arc. I bring you 3 & 1/3 pages to give you the general idea.

Last issue: Some creepozoid monsternasties teleported into Brainiac 5's lab to kidnap him, despite Harmonia and Dream Girl's best defenses; Brainy got snatched, and Dreamy got taken along for the ride.

( We've escaped from worse. )

Technically the kidnappers are unidentified, but the Legion has, let us say, a very strong suspicion. But despite a covert intel assault on the suspects' Earth embassy and current leader Mon-El's impassioned plea to the council, the United Planets and Earthgov have forbidden the Legion from making any move against their suspects.

So what's a team to do? Splinter over the issue, of course.

( We're not leaving any Legionnaires behind. )

So help is on the way, and that's a good thing! Right?

( Right? )

It's a little early to start placing bets, but it should be interesting to see how the odds on that prophecy of Dreamy's shape up as the arc progresses.

Incidentally, I think Star Boy is in that chair because of ongoing effects of the process of restoring his sanity after his return from the 21st century. (Unless he got whomped in the Saturn Queen's New Legion of Super-Villains arc and I've forgotten? Anyone?) Reference has been made to his having rehab sessions, but I believe the end of last ish was the first time we'd seen him use an assistive device to get around.
